I’ve watched it twice now and bought the book. It’s not earth-shattering genius, but it’s just so charming. I needed some charming in my life right now.

Dunno. I'm gay and had never heard of this book till Amazon propped it up on Prime video. I'm sure it's the heavily hyped flavor of the week to be forgotten next week. Must admit being curious that straight people (meaning straight white women, I suppose) would want to read about a gay romance when I couldn't finish a page of a straight romance. From the trailers, the film is clearly marketed towards the young progressive white woman audience with a impeccably diverse casting and rom com cliches. I can see why those outside this demographic would find the story and its marketing contrived and forced.

This sums it up for me. I don’t have a hot guy in touch with his emotions and willing to be romantic at home. I get it from books and movies. Sometimes those fictional men are straight. Sometimes they’re queer.

Gay guy here too, and yes, I have learned that M/M romance is a big thing with straight women. (In my case I read this book around 2021, wish it was around when I was younger, it would have helped.)

So straight people can only watch straight romance? Bizarre. A love story is a love story. Doesn’t matter who they are having sex with.

I can't tell if PPs are referencing the book in addition to the movie, but in the book she DOES do a powerpoint (it's a running gag in the book that she makes powerpoints for everything) and it's hilar

Otherwise cute rom com! Much better than Hallmark movies. The scene where they talk about the dog's name cracks me up. "That would be a little too on the nose, don't you think?"

I watched it. Really disappointed the two lead actors weren't better looking. They were "almosts" but weren't quite hot. Wasnt able to get emotionally invested.
