Am I in the wrong for not being more vocal against my son's father for not accepting his engagement

Your son is getting married whether you or your husband support it or agree with it. What you do now will affect your future relationship with your son, his partner, and any grandchildren that come along. If you want a positive relationship with your son and future grandchildren, you enthusiastically embrace his partner and marriage. Your tepid acceptance or your husband’s disappointment will not change your son’s marriage. It will, however, change your future relationship.
