I have not noticed any of this. I have never read a post that tries to elevate Northwestern to the level of Harvard, Yale, or Princeton other than a brief comment about the theater program at NU versus that at Yale. The biggest difference between H, Y, P, S, & MIT and lower ranked top 10 or top 15 universities is each school's endowment. The top 5 (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, & MIT) are in a class by themselves. Dissing lower ranked schools ? Are you referring to comparisons between NU & other T-15 universities ? If so, that is done for all schools which attract similar applicants. |
+1 I have not noticed anything like what PP was claiming either. Sounds like a pot stirrer. |
+2 |
| What are Northwestern’s closest peer schools in DC area students? Duke, Penn, Cornell, or Georgetown? |
| Duke, of course! |
| And Penn… |
And Vandy? Wash U? Emory? |
| The only people in DD’s school who got in this year were URM. Being the right race helps you get into Northwestern. Plenty of smart kids applied. But the URM got in. |
Stop that nonsense. At my DD 's school (diverse public), the admits that we know were 3 white, 2 Asian, 1 urm. At the DC admitted students mixer, it was largely white/Asian. Stop trying to make "URM stole my spot" a thing. There are not that many URMs at NU! |
Are you serious ? Northwestern University is full of brilliant, hard-working,ambitious students regardless of race. Northwestern's student body is composed of mostly white, then Asian, Jewish, Hispanic, international, and then AA/black. |
Show a single instance where anyone has tried to elevate NU to the level of HYP. You seem genuinely delusional. |
Duke, Penn, Johns Hopkins, and UChicago |
Add Cornell as well |
Northwestern itself states its peers are Columbia, Duke, Emory, WashU, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, Tulane, Cornell, JHU, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, URochester, MIT, Princeton and a few others. |
| The more common cross admit battles I’ve seen with are Duke, Dartmouth and Cornell |
