Let me introduce you to No Labels, Cornel West, and Joe Manchin.

All on a train to nowhere.

Another related article. Sounds like any republican may have a similar agenda. With the current courts, federal employee rights may definitely be at risk. https://news.yahoo.com/trump-allies-forge-plans-increase-114639311.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=ma&guccounter=1

A train to 1 percentage point each could make all the difference.

After living though Trump, nothing scares me.

Contractors and PSCs should probably be packing parachutes just in case. GS people will survive.

During the last administration, it was quite worrisome to hear people in power constantly attacking federal employees and the deep state, and it just fees like that will be on turbocharge in the next administration. Interested if others are looking for non-gov jobs already. I love my coworkers and my agency, but I just don't know if I can take another four years of this. I also worry that they'll reclassify a lot of our jobs so we lose civil service protections.

You were worried about people attacking the “deep state”

Did you mention this on conspiracies.com as well? There is no “deep state”

I am worried. I believe it will have a chilling effect where I work in that everyone will not want to say what they actually think about a new DT policy, etc. for risk of being fired. Actually had a nightmare about it the other day where I had to give a speech for my job and DT was there. In my nightmare, I gave my introduction, and then realized I could not say anything else in my speech for risk of it being seen as against DT’s policies, etc. I am not applying for any policy jobs where I work because I don’t want to help craft new DT policies if he is elected.

Lol, and yet Trump gave way more pay raises to Federal employees than Obama.

Why don’t you look up the history of sequestration during his presidency and see who’s fault it was?

Job security? No. Job climate? Yes.

The DT administration was tough to work under but and hasn't gotten much better under JB in my agency. Will see what comes next. The administration has already started recalling people to the office. If they try to move us to Kansas City or something like ERS, then I'll start looking for something else.

I'm not concerned. Despite the GOP's strong dislike for federal workers, it's not feasible for them to do a mass purge, and the risks are too great to justify any rewards (e.g. a hollowed-out EPA neglects to prevent an environmental catastrophe). Trump might be most likely to do this but I don't think he would succeed because he surrounds himself with morons and repeatedly says things that undermine his position in litigation.

I suspect any GOP president (not just Trump) will target careers in certain agencies like the DOJ/USAO, FBI, and IRS, who show up in FEC records as having made significant contributions to Democrats. Any career associated with efforts to suppress reporting on Hunter Biden's laptop is probably toast.

...who was president during the Great Recession. But sure, bless the feds with raises while folks are losing their homes and jobs.

I'm with State and if Trump wins I would likely retire. I but my tongue and kept working last time but just don't think I can do it again.

JFC. This quote from Rick Perry says it all (I realize this is old, but dang): “My past statements made over five years ago about abolishing the Department of Energy do not reflect my current thinking. In fact, after being briefed on so many of the vital functions of the Department of Energy, I regret recommending its elimination.”

It’s like they just go around shooting first and asking questions later. They campaign on wanting to get rid of agencies without even understanding their functions.

Could we cut some things from the fed government? Sure. But we need a scalpel not a sledgehammer. These people are morons.

Dude, he will be in jail. I'm a former prosecutor. DJT is not something we should even be remotely worried about. Bookmark this thread.
