+1 Changing is optional. No one does it. Be sure to have your kid pack extra deodorant! |
Why are they opening this can of worms?? |
Have you smelled middle school kids? They are trying to get the kids out of really stinky clothes from gym so that they will only be in regular daily stinky clothes. |
Daily basis? Does RCMS not have block scheduling? If not, I will be emailing our middle school principal now and asking for non-block scheduling. |
As if that would matter but you do you. For what it's worth - YES, RCMS is block scheduling. I'm sure the administrator meant that daily kids would be using the locker rooms. Not that your specific kid would be entering the locker room daily. |
not our middle school but in the block schedule kids absolutely draw the short stick and get PE every day. it's a huge PITA - my daughter had it last year. |
| I wish PE were an elective. |
| Thoreau Middle School kids change into uniforms. They learn different sports every unit. They (very smartly) have kids choose every unit choose a group- competitive or non-competitive. My non-sporty kid loves PE now bc he doesn’t have to be with all the star athletes taking PE games so seriously. Brilliant move to make PE a friendly place for all. |
NP here. How is that possible to get a class every day under block scheduling? The whole point is so that classes are every other day! At our school, block scheduling means 8 periods that are divided into odd period days and even period days. So for example, 1st period PE 2nd: science 3rd: math 4th: English 5th: elective 6th: learning seminar 7th: history 8th: elective Week 1 has odd period days on M/W/F and then even period days on T/Th, then the next week, it flip flops. This way PE (and all classes) is every other day, not every day. How does block scheduling work at your school? |
My high schooler hated PE so she took it online in the summer for both 9th and 10th grades. |
The ones who have PE everyday have a 45 minute class daily and a shorter study hall period. |
That’s not block scheduling then. The PP I was responding to said their kid had daily PE with block scheduling. Maybe they misunderstood what block schedules are. |
I don't think it should be an elective for MS but it absolutely should be in HS. Athletes, especially Varsity one, should be except from PE in 9th and 10th. Fine with keeping health/driver's ed but remove the "physical" part for athletes. |
