As a family though (just to give you a more helpful response) our summer has been punctuated by theater shows. Kids are both into theatre so we have shows to look forward to and remember fondly FWIW.

Where the heck do you live? In the DC area it hasn’t been that hot. The real buzkill this summer has been all the rain.

This. Hell i live in Arizona and still do outdoor activities all summer. Granted it’s mainly the pool but come on suck it up buttercup.

+1. I was never a beach or pool person in New England, but with kids in the DMV it's the best option.

Yuck. Pools are like warm bath water mid-late summer here.

I also hate the hot pool deck and sweltering anytime you are out. Everyone's sweat and fecal germs and urine. No thanks.

I’m guessing you don’t get out much.

I’ve lived in DC for over a decade and this is the mildest summer I can remember! June was gorgeous and it’s really not that hot here right now. The nights have been cool. Move to northern Vermont if this is too hot for you. Or take a weekend trip to Mobile Alabama to see how much luckier we are in terms of heat here. Because this is not hot.

Take a day trip to visit a cave.

How do people not know how to fill their time. Walking around the shopping mall? Do none of you read or play games? Do projects around the house? You spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a home and don’t want to be in it?

Sprinkler in yard.
