Which do you prefer going to: Florida or California?

How is this even a question?

Florida. It’s closer (to the Dc area), easier and cheaper to get to, TONS of beaches and resort areas, gorgeous weather 12 months a year. No wildfires, smog/air pollution, no homeless people all over the damn place, lots of affordable choices for hotels, activities and restaurants and no politics in your face at every turn while you are on vacation.

Florida. The driving is much much easier.

I prefer CA + my DD lives in SF. But, sometimes in winter, I need a quick weekend getaway, so I go to South beach in Miami. I hate the MAGS politics in FL though...Trump + decent is have ruined FL

We stay in condos on the beach, set up a beach camp cabana, hang out together, swim in the pool and gulf and walk to dinner. You can’t really get that kind of beach experience anywhere north of San Diego/ LA in CA. So I think it depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for.

Lord, that’s ten minutes from my in-laws and we would rather go to California.

The only politics more in your face than FLs would be a literal handmaid’s-tale style bonnet

Made me LOL! But sadly, it is true.

Yeah, we know, Californians think they’re too good for everywhere.

It's just them trying to make themselves feel better about living in such an expensive, messed up place.

No one goes there anymore. It's too crowded.

Both states are becoming more unappealing.

It's a shame that some people only view travel through a political lens. For a visitor, they both have a lot to offer. It's magical to be able to escape the northern cold by flying a couple of hours to FL. We love being able to do that and to take our kids to Disney. California is so long and offers a ton of variety: beaches, mission architecture, the movie industry, the national parks, the desert, Napa, etc. I love that. I'd never live in either state permanently though.

I like both for different reasons, California for beautiful scenery and Mediterranean climate and Florida for warm water swim in the Gulf. In California, you cannot really swim in that freezing ocean. In Florida, on the west coast- I can swim for hours and not freeze ( Sarasota, Naples, Clearwater- lovely beaches).

Maybe you don’t go to cali, but many people still do and love it. I was just at Moon’s Bay last week. It was definitely expensive, but not crowded. Just right. Damn that place is gorgeous.
