I sort of agree with this, and also think that's what makes him the perfect Pat Sajak replacement. Trade one piece of coiffed toast for another; see if anyone even notices.

Exactly! PS was the most boring gameshow host in the business. Ideal replacement!

Nice to look at
Pleasing voice
No drama
Doesn't participate in politics
Not active on social media

He's like an inoffensive robot. Wheel is the easiest gig in game shows, $15m/year for a couple weeks of work. He can do the job for the next 20+ years. Easy money and plenty of leisure time, if he chooses.

Judge Judy made 45 million a year. I suspect Ryan will get more than Pat.

Maybe they'll get to shake things up since they are bringing in a new host. Price is Right did that when they switched to Carey.

You could tell Sajak was getting bored with the gig 3-4 years ago. He started making snarkier, thinly veiled mean comments to contestants.

How did Price is Right change with Carey? The few times I've seen it, it looks exactly the same and Carey seems bored to tears.

I think of Ryan Seacrest as the American Idol host -- a show that was new and on its way UP.

This feels like a demotion... like those D-list actors who went on Hollywood Squares back in the '70s and '80s.

I feel like Ryan could have done so much better than Wheel. How can he possibly feign interest in a spinning wheel? This is way beneath him.

NP and I sort of agree with this. I have no feelings pro/ con for Seacrest but the first thing I thought was "why is he taking a geriatric job at age 48? He's given up already?"

Is this why he left the show with Kelly?

48? Bullshat. He's lies just like everyone else I. The biz.

I wish they still made the winners scramble to buy those crappy sofas and lamps rather than just giving cash

Yes! And the dalmatian statue that everyone ended up buying last!

They should’ve given the hosting gig to Vanna.

I thought this, too, at first, but I can see with them wanting to go with a younger host.

I watch so little screen, I turn the channel when he is on, automatically.

I don't watch regularly, but the few times I have in recent years, PS has been fairly off the cuff and snarky. He's never reached Alex Trebek levels of sass, but he's always seemed pretty sharp and quick witted. Ryan Seacrest on the other hand is too nice and inoffensive. If they replace Vanna (which I can't imagine them not doing a complete reboot) they should hire a comedian to counter Seacrest's affable nice guy act.

Ohhh, Leslie Jones! I’d watch the hell out of that. 😆😆

Updated set; added male item models, eliminated 'old staple' products like the grandfather clock and introduced more modern products like smartphones & tablets; and the overall experience has more of a party vibe, as well. I went to a taping in my 20s when Barker was host and it was very lowkey during the many breaks. My sister went to a show in 2019 and said they play current music to keep the audience pumped up. There's dancing and Carey interacts a lot with the crowd instead of leaving the stage.

Canna is a terrible host. She filled in for Oat when he had emergency surgery a few years ago and she was HORRIBLE. it was weird since she’s been on the show forever, but she obviously wasn’t comfortable doing that much talking. I doubt she’d want the host gig.
