Yes, OP here and I just came on to say I found it!!!!!
It was IN IN IN the couch!

We had taken the couch cushions off and last night I had run my hands behind/under the attached back cushions. I did the same for an armchair and I realized I obviously had not vacuumed under the cushions in a while, so I decided to do that this morning. I spotted the silver slim edge of the computer DOWN in the area beside the arm of the couch...the computer had slid way down and was trapped under the lining below where the cushions rest. I actually thought it was part of the construction of the couch and I had to pull it out! It is a bit scratched (was obviously shoved down against something hard), but works!

I feel like an idiot, but at least three of us had looked in and around the couch! Thanks for the ideas and the accountability of posting to an anonymous forum!

And I'm so glad you found your diamond!
I remember my mom's diamond fell out when she and my Dad had been married about 25 years - Thankfully, it fell out when she reached into the drive thru window at the bank and she heard it make a little "ping" hitting the metal drawer! She was able to get it! It could have happened anywhere or fallen out of the car window and she would never have known! I'm at 15 years and had my ring resized at 10, but think I should go get my prongs checked! Best to you!
