BS---Northwestern is a T10 school, and has been T10-20 for 3decades NEU is ranked ~#50 and was 200 20 years ago |
I agree about going with fit. The score ranges are unfortunately not comparable, as Northeastern did not report stats for a third of the enrolled class - NU.in and international- prior to test optional, for many years, going back to the old Boston magazine article about gaming the rankings (https://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/2014/08/26/how-northeastern-gamed-the-college-rankings/). I have no idea what they are doing with enrollment stats for the satellite campuses going forward, though it would not surprise me if those were reported separately to IPEDS, just because that seems to be what other universities do (not sure what the CDS rules are). |
The two schools have almost same stats in the major areas. |
Dear teenager with the preference for Boston, go ahead, go to Boston. Please. Do not apply to Northwestern. What is the point of comparing these two schools? |
Which is the one in Boston? I get them confused?? |
Many schools accept transfer students, 15-3% of their incoming students, and their stats are not included either. Northeastern's internal transfer student stats are actually very high. The article basically says there are schools cheating (i.e. Columbia, Berkeley, Emory, etc.), but Northeastern is playing by the rules. Nonwestern was also accused of cheating in their law schools stats. Oh Northwestern also has a satellite campus and it's trying to expand as well all over the world https://www.northwestern.edu/global/ |
Lol @ “Northeastern is playing by the rules”. Good one PP. |
That is true. There has been schools caught cheating rankings. Columbia is the recent major one we all know. Some of the major past ones Berkeley - https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/uc-berkeley-booted-from-u-s-news-best-college-list-misreporting/ Emory - https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/emory-university-false-academic-data-sent-ranking-groups-flna950476 USN&WR displays the list for the past a few years. https://www.usnews.com/education/articles/us-news-rankings-updates Northeastern never got on the list. |
Other than a component of the name, these two schools have almost nothing in common. Why would anyone even try to compare them? |
I don't care for either school but I do know that Northeastern is a great school in a great location (better than Northwestern location). Northeastern also has a great coop program. As for gaming the system, the only school that did so recently was Columbia. |
This, for the thousandth time. The act of comparing the two institutions only serves to make NEU look worse, and is delusional at best. There is no reason to compare the two institutions other than that they happen to share similar names. |
It doesn't make it look worse or better. Looks like OP was rejected by Northeastern. Anybody with normal brain can see it. |
I think Boston being a college city is overrated! Many cities have local colleges (including DC, Philly, NYC) and I don't get why everyone thinks going to college in Boston is better than any other city. If you are at BU, are you really hanging out with kids from Northeastern? And if so, so what? I just don't get the hype... |
I get these two schools mixed up all the time! |
The city itself is overall just more interesting. NYC is another one, hence the soaring popularity of NYU. |
