Not content to let the Catholic church be the church most associated with pedophilia, they’re really trying to compete.

I imagine you’ve been madly googling and have come up with two examples of Democrats, vs the thousands of Republicans in the Daily Kos link, the Catholic Church and the Baptist Church. Like you dedicated some time to this endeavor.

Houston chronicle did a great job exposing southern Baptist church abuses. It’s just falling that they are doubling down on the sexist infrastructure that contributed to the problem in the first place.

It’s paywalled but I have read about this in the past and from the titles of all the parts, it seems very well researched.

Even without reading a written piece, none of it seems unclear: patriarchal religion and society in which “respect” is due to elders but especially men and especially especially leaders, in which sexuality has an enormous and twisted part… it’s not exactly a surprise. I’d be surprised that there are only 700 victims.

Giving your kids a smart phone is also a terrible idea if you’re worried about grooming.

Do you have data to support this? Unfortunately the largest category of abusers of children per capita are family members.

No, that PP is right. The child is likely to know their abuser, but it’s not family as frequently as you’d think.

The PP said church or church school is the greatest threat to kids being abused? Are you seriously trying to say the # of kids who are abused in church is greater than 34%?

Hon I think you’re struggling with statistics here. No, no one is saying that 34% or more of children who attend church are sexually assaulted or harassed. They’re saying that of the children who are sexually assaulted or harassed, 34% of them are victimized by family and 59% are victimized by acquaintances: neighbors, church leaders in school because Ron Desantis said they were good for kids, your best friend’s father.

Your political partisanship is clouding your judgment. Child predators live on both sides of the aisle.

I haven’t posted any examples because the premise of this entire thread is incredibly stupid. anecdotes. If you can show me any statistical data on the political leanings of child predators then it would be possible to have a conversation.

There are institutions that coddle, protect, and hide child predators - like churches - that are associated with the right. You really just don't find that on the left in the same way. Yeah I know BUT PRIDE - but there aren't actually stories about pride organizations being cover for sexual predation against children. Yeah, there are some photos of kids at pride that don't look fantastic - but I have never in my life heard any actual accusation that a child was predated on at a pride event, and especially not that a kid was predated on and then a pride organization covered up what happened and protected the predator not the kid.

Epstein seems like an equal opportunity corrupter, if you want to drag him in here. No one of any party came out looking good from that. But I don't think that one example justifies any BOTH SIDESism here.

Why are you talking about pride events? Did someone claim that children are getting assaulted at pride events? Are you trying to equate a pride parade to attendance at church or religious schools?

Take a look at Hollywood. Everyone knows that child stars are exploited and abused and it is covered up. You have posted zero evidence that child abusers are more likely to be conservatives.

I would like to see the data on this. Maybe you are right, but just saying so based on your feelings doesn't make it reality. You are just as blinded by your partisanship as the right wingers that you think you are so different from. I'm sure that it's comforting to believe that no one from your team could be an abuser, but that is just not true. Wake up.

yes, the trans hysterics who post incessantly on dcum are constantly claiming that pride events are where kids go to get groomed. jesus, you're lucky not to have seen their post after post after post after post.

yeah, hollywood is a good example of another institution where the predators have been protected. that's right. it seems like mostly it's against adults, but there have certainly been some children. i would not say that the left has closed ranks to prevent news about predation in hollywood from coming forward, or those responsible from being held accountable, that said - which is not how it's gone with the church.

i didn't say that child abusers are more likely to be conservative, again. what i said is that it's conservative institutions that have closed ranks around predators, and cultures of predation, and punished the kids who were abused while protecting the predators.
