Airbnb Review Removed

Anonymous
I don’t know that the host should be responsible that a crime occurred 10 blocks away. And that was the basis for your feeling unsafe. But I insanely search Airbnb rentals to determine their location as close as possible. That way I’m not surprised.

All reviews are opinion based, in any case, I gave specific examples of recent crimes within 2 blocks of listing. Also a fact that I felt so unsafe there I did not spend the night.

That's why it was removed, OP. You didn't stay there.

You sound like a sleazy host trying to justify why negative reviews shouldn’t be allowed.

I don't use airbnb as a host or as a guest (I prefer hotels), but it's in their TOS that you have to actually stay there to leave a review.

That isn't what Airbnb's terms of service actually say. Here's the policy on their web site:

If a guest never arrived for their stay or Experience, or had to cancel due to circumstances unrelated to that stay or Experience, their review may be removed.

I both arrived, and left early for reasons related to the stay, so review is appropriate.

Airbnb's policy also states:

You can’t remove a review written about you if you disagree with it, but you can report it to us if you think it violates our Reviews Policy. These reviews will be removed if they violate our Reviews Policy, and both guest and Host will be informed of this decision upon removal.

I was not informed at any time that my review was removed. It's all completely inappropriate.

Did you contact them about removing it? What did they say?

exactly, you can't review a place you didn't stay at. Another misleading troll probably from the hotel industry

Disagree. I once walked into a place that reeked of heavy roach spray. I could hardly breathe, even though he had fans going everywhere. I told the owner I’d see if I could scramble to sleep somewhere else, but could I leave my boatload luggage. He said sure, but I’d have to pay full price if I wasn’t able to immediately take all of my belongings. It was a complete nightmare. Naturally I left a negative review. NEVER got posted!!

OP you were wrong the first time you posted and you’re still wrong.

Do you stayed?

I agree with OP (and I agreed on her other thread). If she was there for 90 minutes, checked in and was charged the rate, her review should not be removed. It makes no difference whether she slept there or not. If she didn’t stay there (in their definition), she should have been refunded.

And generally, if people are unable to leave honest feedback, what’s the point of feedback at all? Why even have it, if truthful impressions are removed? Anyone reading those reviews knows each guest is expressing a unique impression that may or may not apply to someone else’s situation. It would be entirely different if she made up complete lies in her review, but that’s not what happened here.

+1

Wrong, Airbnb considers you to have stayed there if you check in, which I did.

I did contact them, still waiting for a response.

Sounds very 1984ish. Unsafe is safe and safe is whatever you say it is. Got it.

You’re not made for city living.

I finally heard back from Airbnb. My review was removed because safety of the neighborhood is beyond a host’s control. Yes they actually put that in writing.

I will still use Airbnb and VRBO but it sounds like those are not the sites for you.

Anyone who continues to use Airbnb knowing they just delete negative reviews is a fool.

I had a negative review reviewed once on VRBO.

Was more of a manifesto her complaints included I said walking distance beach but she felt two blocks is not walking distance.

She also was mad I put in as two parking spots on condo property reserved unit but she did not realized condo in no parking zone and wanted to bring extra guests.

She also wanted to add in non family members but unit beach passes was only her Family.

Basically she want to show 20 people in a two bedroom condo.

I ended up canceling her when she showed up and refunding. As I could not fix her issue.
