Airbnb Review Removed

Anonymous
I posted early this week about an Airbnb that had an unsafe location and a misleading description of its location in its listing. As some advised, I wrote a truthful and measured review that did initially appear on the listing’s reviews. However, I checked this morning (3 days later) and my review has been removed. I intend to pursue this with Airbnb but wanted to make people aware that hosts apparently can and do remove negative reviews.

Had a similar experience. They PROTECT the property owners, NOT you.

Don’t understand why people still use them. When people show you who they are, believe them.

As a super host, I'm not aware of the ability to remove negative reviews. I'm still crazy bothered by the one poor review.

It is nearly impossible to get a review removed unless it violates the following, https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/546 and i this is another attempt to bash airbnb. In fact airbnb protects guests over hosts as that is their revenue stream.

It was probably removed because your comment “unsafe area” was an opinion not based in facts.

Op here. My review was in total compliance with Airbnb’s policy. It was also very measured. I noted that the interior of the property was clean and pictures were accurate. The host’s communications about check in were timely. However, I also described why I felt the location was unsafe and not as described in the listing, and for this reason, we left without staying the night.

I am pursing this with Airbnb, but the posters who say they don’t allow hosts to remove negative reviews are incorrect.

Airbnb's Reviews Policy says the review must reflect the actual experience of the reviewer during the stay. If you didn't stay there, they will remove the review.

Thank you op. That’s horrible hat they got it removed.

All reviews are opinion based, in any case, I gave specific examples of recent crimes within 2 blocks of listing. Also a fact that I felt so unsafe there I did not spend the night.

That's why it was removed, OP. You didn't stay there.

In which case, the host will refund my money because I didn’t stay? If he is keeping the money and I checked in, I should be able to leave a review.

You sound like a sleazy host trying to justify why negative reviews shouldn’t be allowed.

exactly, you can't review a place you didn't stay at. Another misleading troll probably from the hotel industry
