| OP, clearly the first step is to figure out whether or not you want cake in your ice cream cake, and then go from there. |

Milwaukee Frozen Custard in Chantilly (Route 50 near Route 28) makes amazing Frozen Custard cakes.

| Coldstone is always good but the last time we had it, we had one piece sitting there on the table for 30 minutes and the ice cream oddly... didn't melt. hmmmm. But a crowd pleaser! |
|
not technically cake, but I love Baskin-Robbin’s Turtle Pie. |
| OP here. We prefer no cake, all ice cream so I’ll check out those recommendations. Thank you for the great ideas! I welcome other thoughts! |

Fudgy the whale.
Haters and their foo foo gourmet crap can buzz off. Fudgy reigns supreme. |

Cold Stone ice cream is bad—they put in so many emulsifiers so it stretches when they mix it it ruins the texture.
Baskin Robbins is the best. If you’re willing to spend more you can get one that’s all ice cream, no cakes, with 2 or three flavors. Dairy Queen isn’t technically ice cream, it’s ice milk. |
Can't believe it took this long for someone to namecheck Fudgy! We've had a bunch of ice cream cakes - the favorite was one from BR that had cookies and cream ice cream and also some real cake in it. |
| I worked at Baskin-Robbins, and that cake came to us frozen and was probably 10 years old. Lol! Disgusting. Definitely recommend one of the local ice cream shops in your neighborhood. Like mentioned before, Toby's in Arlington. They make a fantastic cake! Two layers of ice cream with a crunchy cookie layer in between. |
Runner up spot goes to Cookie Puss. |

Carvel all the way.
The only time I had something that seemed possibly better was Giffords ice cream cake. RIP. |
| Definitely Cold Stone! Just make sure you leave out to thaw a bit. They freeze very solid! |
| Dairy queen oreo! |

Ben and Jerry's stores make a yummy ice cream cake.
