Lacrosse
More or less agree, but to distill: they are after the Maryland $$$ and might grab some talented players/coaches in the process. |
| I think this was BS to get people worked up. But I could be wrong |
Start looking. Even if this is true the dynamics will not change overnight and the team your DD is on probably won’t change much. |
The club has communicated the sale through messages on Team Snap that gets sent out as emails as well. Team reps had meetings with STJ & MCE last week. This is definitely a sale that is working it's way through the process. Not clear if due diligence is ongoing or completed. No clue if the transaction has closed. Messaging so far is that JR is staying for a couple of years to focus on the teams and STJ will be running financial and operational side. Lot of rumors. Most interesting is that STJ is looking to build new facilities in North Moco. |
| Is MC elite a girls team? |
It is a girls lacrosse club |
| so was this all fake news? |
is it still fake news? |
| I don't know this particular post is fake news or not, but a very reliable source informed me weeks ago that a sale of MC Elite is in progress. This was from an insider in the organization. So this very well may be what she was talking about, but without inquiring, I can't confirm. |
| Not fake news. As the MC owners bask from the $, they need to remember there are a large amount of girls UNHAPPY. So, that's great for the club, but if you think it's going to make a difference in the next 1-2 years, I question it. Still, think this was a all a fat transaction $ and nothing else. |
bask...absolutely clueless...lying about $ is gross...stop going after people on an anonymous blog, the club is not even on the blog...there are a ton of happy families, including the kids who played in the ISL championship and are playing in MocCo regional playoffs...there are hundreds of athletes JR personally has mentored and coached at the highest levels and her husband is a well-regarded coach at Gonzaga...please stop with the attacks..did anyone say this about Stars when sold to STJ...who are you to question it...let it be... |
| I have a daughter who plays for MC and is a highschooler. She played for another competitor for years. She's much happier w/ MC. It's definitely not perfect but good luck finding any club who is. |
There are lots of happy parents and you're right. Our last club wasn't perfect either but MC is a good fit for our daughter. She wants to play in college but wouldn't get the time of day at some of the other clubs because she's not one of the top 10 players on her team. We joined at the recommendation of our neighbor whose daughter played for MC on her b team and got recruited to a top D3 school. She didn't want D1 and my daughter doesn't either - which I love for lots of reasons. Anyway - there's a home for everyone and we are all lucky to have so many options. One size isn't for all that's for sure. Maybe we should all just agree to disagree and do what we think is best for our own players. |
| I feel badly for families who are being sold on MC’s history instead of their present. While they may have once prepared players for college, if you look at 2027 and below, they are now not even getting them ready for middle/high school. NGLL teams were universally outcoached and outclassed across the board, and the 2030s have already completely blown up before the year is even done. |
| As a current HS parent also with a MS daughter, I can tell u the MS program is no different then it has ever been. The 27s scores from spring league does not mean that each of the players are not developing. Just let the girls play lacrosse, have your DD go to practice ready to go and run their but off, and listen to the coaches, not crazy parents who don’t know the game and just want to control and question every move. No one is being sold. |
