MC Elite Lacrosse club sold to St James

They started notifying families today. Details are lacking.

Interesting move. Not sure how this helps out the St James. Will they be combining teams? Keeping them seperate? What is the ROI for St James with this move?

Wow - that's pretty crazy. I don't think the new St. James facility in Bethesda has a turf field, does it? I wonder how that will work.

Will they combine with the current Stars teams?

They bought FCV virginia soccer and still use the same outdoor fields that they always did. It's just marketing

I don't know how that would work. I think the rosters for Stars are pretty full. I mean, any club would take 1 or 2 players that make a big difference but not the full team. They might just rebrand as MC Elite/the St. James or something similar.

Well that explains why many of the coaches have checked out.

Who have they notified? Someone please post the email.

We hear this rumor every year.

Does anyone know if you can switch teams mid season?

If your willing to pay double and they have openings sure

Yes, we are willing to pay double but I may get a refund from MC Elite just to make a point. Need to review the contract or whatever spouse agreed to when signing daughter up. What is best team closest to Bethesda?

There is no decent team that would take a new player with 3 more NGLL games left to play. Tryouts are in June or July for next year, that’s your next opportunity.

Apparently we may be able to switch for summer tournaments?

Good teams have already submitted full rosters for summer tournaments, though there are probably a few bad teams out there who need a player.

A terrible program buying a terrible program. Private equity money is destroying the sport. These things never go well. Expect to pay a lot more and get even less. I feel bad for these families and kids. Get out while you can.

Thanks Pride parent. That Cav purchase sure worked out well for you all…

Nope. Maryland parent with no dog in the fight. Just call it like it is.

What is your logic on why Stars/St James is a terrible program. Please do share?

Yeah, I'd like to know this, too. I'm a current Stars parent and pretty happy right now. We've certainly had complaints in the past, but the new director of girls' lacrosse is great and we really like her.
