DP, but I'd love to see some diversity OF OPINION on the next School Board. We don't have that with the current board and they have been running FCPS into the ground with their incompetence. Some of them should be in jail.

That was Brabrand’s second motto (after he figured out “the main thing is the main thing” wouldn’t cut it with the current School Board if the “main thing” was academic achievement).

No. I agree with a lot she has done, but I also disagree with some. She carries it too far.
I disagree with our SB on most issues, but when you attack constantly, it loses the value of recognizing the real problems and begins to make people sympathetic to the SB.

I'm grateful to her, though, for bringing so much to light.

Reid is an improvement, but I do realize that was Brabrand. The non-obvious point I meant to make is that anyone who was on the school board during Brabrand's tenure is unqualified to serve

I don't see it that way at all. If McElveen and McDaniel have more support far north than others, my sense is that's largely because they are the MOST left on the political spectrum, and that's what the wealthy Oakton/Vienna/McLean crowd likes. Moon seems much more moderate, but widely popular with everyone. I've meet Munir and he's moderate, too -- as a parent (maybe the only current parent of FCPS students running?) his concerns seemed quite practical and I think that's where is focus is, rather than national talking points. As a parent, that resonated with me. At this point, for me, it's Moon and Munir, but I can't quite figure out the 3rd. McElveen seems disingenuous and McDaniel has sent me about 400 emails but the only thing they are about is LGBTQ issues, so I can't really figure out what his actual education-related stances are.

I’m get McDaniel’s emails too and I think maybe 1 was about LGBTQ issues, which, like it or not, is a topic of concern for the community. His website has a long list of education issues.

I thought McDaniel was a moderate considering he used to be a Republican but left the party because it is now extremist.
