Are TJ college admissions a mess this year?

these numbers are definitely high. I'm a parent of a tj senior and can assure you 17 kids did not get into MIT this year. try 4-5.

MIT acceptances are usually between around 10 to 16 so little high although they usually had more than 20 some time ago.

TJ used to send the most number of students to MIT some time ago and I wonder if that's still true.

Admissions numbers are troll posts.

Only 2 confirmed CMU admissions per DC, one of whom is a friend.

You must be a troll since each year TJ receives about 15-25 admissions to CMU. Because your DC only knows about 2 doesn't mean there are only 2 acceptances for CMU. Learn some logic.

I know things are crazy this admissions season, country-wide.
How are things at TJ?

It's really gone downhill, but hopefully the changes to admission will help address these failings in years to come.

You must be crying because of all the envy and disdain. Stop crying and whining and try to do better.

DC's friend who got admitted to CMU was able to find only one other student who got in. Friend was lamenting the fact that usually there are nearly 20 kids and this year he would not have this big group from TJ.

I was surprised too and told my child the same, that maybe DC's friend did not yet find out about all who are admitted yet. But they seemed sure that it was not the case.

If you know otherwise, I would be happy to learn about it.

Not sure what you're going on about but I couldn't be happier with TJ's new direction. Things should start looking up once the kids who got in because of test buying graduate.

No, things will get better due to the evisceration of affirmative action coming to the top colleges/universities near you in Summer blockbuster hit.

Yup, ending the Asian discrimination in college admissions will definitely increase the top 20 acceptances from about 80 to 160.

Nobody knows for sure yet but it definitely feels like a bad year, way worse than last year, according to my DC’s friends group.

Class of 2023 at TJ was admitted under the old admission system. FYI.

Thank goodness they've adjusted the system. I hope it pays off for everyone, and it very well might given the recent focus by college AOs, though I tend not to fully support such tracked education with tax dollars.

Is this like TJ, where 70% of the students selected from a race-blind process are Asian?

No wonder it's such a mess. I can't wait to see better outcomes with the kids selected from the new process.
