In Tennessee, clerks will be able to not give marriage licenses to inter-faith and inter-racial marriages

Great Repukes you just put the US back 100 years. Morons.

This is coming to every red state.

Go one keep sending your $ to OOS colleges in states with this utter crap.

Why does anyone need government validation of their relationship?

The marriage penalty makes it worse! Stay unmarried and get a bigger SALT deduction.

Many people need it for legal protections - for example if partner is very sick or dying - so they have access in the hospital and heaven forbid, funeral.
Also if children are involved, it provides more protection for spouses who give up careers to care for children.

So terrifying a Christian my decline to sign a license and defer to a colleague to do it.

The horrors!

And what if all his colleagues decline to do it?

That is a lie propagated by activists.

It allows an official to make a choice of conscience not to issue a marriage certificate to homosexuals or transsexuals

Where does it say "homosexual or transexual" in the language of the bill? Please cite it specifically.

Stop being intentionally obtuse. You know exactly why this bill was created.

Tax free transfer of assets between spouses is worth a lot more than some measly SALT cap deduction

Yes of course, but the PP says "it is not directed to inter faith or inter racial marriage" but to gays and trans people. So I want to know where in the language it actually narrows the reasons for rejecting certification to just those two things. Hint - it doesn't, which means anyone could object to any marriage based on deeply held convictions. So: interfaith marriages. Interracial marriages. Atheist marriages. You name it.

Do you know how the LGBT community handled it beforehand?

They incorporated.

That’s crazy, but rationale. Yeah, let’s just get them married. It’s terrible to make people jump thru these hoops to appease bigots.

If you know any Republicans who like to pretend to be moderate, make them aware of the consequences of their continued support for the fascist party.

Pipe down - nobody is going to be denied a marriage license here.

I love when people not affected by laws tell people that are affected by them to sit down and shut up.
