What’s Ashburton ES been like under the new principal?

He was horrific but not because of his ideology- he never wanted to be an ES Principal, it was always a stepping-stone and obvious to everyone who worked in the building

Then it was both. He brought in the equity division to host racist zoom calls with families. It was insane.

Principals and teachers didn’t get into this work to be publicly dissected. Your post here is out of line and rude. If you want to know about the school, go take a tour and talk directly to people who currently attend or work there. Hell, gossip all you want at the local park or pool. Yes, definitely countywide. The Ashburton SLP position has been open since September and it looks like they recently reported it - maybe because of the story. Yes, it's definitely a countywide issue but it's something to be noted. I know there are more schools that have vacencies that are not on the job listings.

It's a big school with some strong teachers that have been there for awhile. The school is over it's numbers and after care can be hard to get into at the school (though there are alternatives with nearby programs).

I saw that story - one of the neighbors also posted about it on the listserv. Not an Ashburton-specific problem, MCPS in general has a shortage of SPs but how ridiculous is it that young ES students are expected to access speech therapy online?!
