In the past, they notified result by mail before end of school year whether in immersion or not. |
I think they had issues administering it, maybe due to the software. My DD's school wasn't able to give it.

| Results for 2nd graders will be posted on ParentVue on May 29 and sent via mail on May 31. |
How do you know this? I called the relevant office and was told mail at end of June. |
This is what we’re told by my son’s school about a month ago. |
| Our results were in Parentvue this morning |
Ours too. What does it mean to be designated? Our teacher only selected 1 out of 3 (creativity, learning, motivation) for my kid. Is it appropriate to ask her about that in the patent teacher conference? |
It does not mean anything aside from the fact that the state requires the testing and notification. The magnets (whatever they are called now) for grade 4 are an entirely different process. Since your fall conference will be with a different teacher I would not ask. You kind of know what it means right? She does not think he is exceptional in those categories. It is not like she has any concerns either. |
| Thanks for the heads up DCUM, I just checked Parentvue. My child met the criteria but it says that the local school will provide enrichment. |
It's typical for in school enrichment until CES in 4th grade. And most GT kids don't do CES and still do in school enrichment |
This is the thing. The poster before is right that SIPPI is a state mandate to identify & notify, but it also requires schools to address GT student need: "Appropriately differentiated, evidenced-based programs and services shall accelerate, extend, or enrich instructional content, strategies, and products to demonstrate and apply learning." This is from COMAR (COde of MARyland) 13A.04.07, which covers GT. There are other requirements, such as monitoring pre-K to 2nd, before any formal ID requirement, GT-specific SEL and teacher training for GT. You can drill down pretty easily from the search page, and it's a pretty quick read: https://dsd.maryland.gov/Pages/COMARSearch.aspx |
I have not seen anything under parentvue. Is that under "documents"? I would be shocked that DC is not designed as gifted with grades and performance. Do everyone get results today no matter designated or not? |
Where in ParentVue did you find them? Documents? |
They have to meet 4 test criteria or 3 out of 4 criteria, plus one of three behavioral input criteria. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1inWx5srfQzXo-3s-8Bv89fxetg7VAuVucYAE0MavwOA/ If you didn't fill out the parent survey, the teacher didn't identify your child on their survey and there was no separate staff advocacy, then you wouldn't have the behavioral piece and all 4 testing items would be required. However, there are circumstances missed. For example, students in French immersion do not have a French-equivalent test to DIBELS (Spanish has one and Mandarin only covers math & science, teaching ELA for language class), and then, instead of assuming a pass or requiring 3 out of the remaining 3 items (or 2 of 3 with a behavioral item), they simply say the criteria are not met/check again at the next grade window. |
| NP no docs in parentvue for me yet either. Wondering if that means they didn't meet criteria or what. |
