Wait, what? You are glad you don't have sidewalks in your neighborhood because 12 year olds might use bicycles to carjack people? Sidewalks contribute to carjackings?
That is some Grade A car-brained idiocy. Thanks for the laugh. |

I’m a teacher in Columbia Heights. The kids are out of control IN school. Everyday I have kids walking out of class, walking out of the building, kicking and throwing things, sexually assaulting other kids. There are virtually no consequences schools can dole out. Chapter 25 is the law and the only consequences available to schools.
The problem is we can educate kids to give them any kind of future. They get what they want at home and at school and now in the neighborhood. Please start with the behaviors in schools and ask the council to act. They have taken away any option for consequences. |
Well how are they out of control if there are no rules? They seem to be acting they way you all want them to or expect them to act. |
And encouraging car jacking. |
He showed them his driver's license. |
Long live the District of Crime, we're awesome! |
Good luck biking to my neighborhood. |
If it's not safe for bicycling it sounds like a shitty place where I wouldn't want to live. |
|
Maybe it should be:
“Carjacking is a crime unless the perpetrators arrive on a climate change friendly form of transport.” Or “Carjacking is a crime unless committed in DC in 2023.” |
The carjacker is an eco-hero. He should be celebrated. |
Curious. What consequences do you really think the parents can mete out? |
| That RAV riding gig economy imperialist! Just asking to be jacked by a toddler on a bike. |
Well, if parents and teachers were doing their job, kids would have sense of civility, morality and personal responsibility for their present and future. There wouldn't be any need of consequences. |
Instilling expectations for starters. Keeping kids off the street. Cutting off cell phone access. Cutting off money. Doing refused class work at home. There’s plenty a parent can do if they start early. Most parents claim they have good kids. When I was assaulted by one after asking for help for months the mom said she was shocked and didn’t know why he would do such a thing. I’ve heard from people who know the family he’s been arrested multiple times already and dropped out of middle school. |
