As a parent, when you confront principals with this, they tell you it's a lie and that it's not true. How can we hold them accountable and expose this? |
So you're saying that at some schools MCPS is helping cover up crimes involving controlled substances? |
How do you know it's a lie and the above poster isn't just making up stories to cause fear and anxiety? |
Because I hear similar stories from students and staff at my kids' high school. Obviously, since I'm a parent and I'm not in the school on a day-to-day basis I can only rely on the second-hand accounts of students and teachers. But the principals deny the stories their own staff and students are saying. I'm not crazy enough to just run with DCUM stories, but the stories I read on DCUM match what I hear from folks at my kids' school. |

At the HS where I teach, nothing happens.
I can’t stand the smell so I have asked kids to leave when they come in reeking of it but administration doesn’t do anything |
They do at Magruder! Take the weed, call police to destroy the weed, and the kid goes on their merry way. |
| I say to myself " at least they are not beating the crap out of each other, breaking into a class that's not theirs to beat up other kids, or destroying your room." If we try to get them help or report to admin we teachers will be in trouble due to the dynamic of kids are always right and teacher is always wrong and deserves punishment and retaliation. |

Do they at least call the parents? I would be SO MAD if my kid were caught with weed at school and I was not informed.
For comparison, I asked a friend that runs a small private school (where most families are low income and mostly not college educated). He said they send student to counselor for a discussion, parents are called, and they start student on a cycle of drug testing in order to remain in school, and bags are also checked He said it is almost always successful in keeping kids in school and off drugs. |
At my kid's private school, weed is expulsion. Anything else is a suspension. |
Unfortunately publics do not have the expulsion card ..doubt they can even drug test |
| Why do you think all of the kids are vaping, smoking, taking pills, edibles, and selling DURING school. Because less likely for anything to happen to them. |
So if all this is going on and you seem to know all about it why arent the police doing something about it? This is against the law? |
Exactly. Private school can expel because public school exist. There are compulsory education laws. So even if a public expelled a kid the state would still be required to provide them an education somewhere up until at certain age. |
The key word here was “small”. A MCPS HS could easily have 2000 students. You think they’re going to have every kid caught smoke pot checkin to a counselor in the morning and have their bag searched before being sent to class? |

what is that small private school?
