full metal jacket, Back to the future, die hard, Bueller, The running Man, blade runner, the untouchables, Aliens, airplane, Indiana Jones, risky business, scarface, caddyshack, blues brothers, fast times at ridgemont high, the right stuff, the shining, Predator, terminator...

red dawn would not' even make my top 20... heck if I had to choose one decade to only watch movies fro the rest of my life. it would be the 80's

too many great movies to choose from..

Another Genxer her and I completely agree!! So many great movies in the 80's!! (I was born in 69)

Xer here and I agree with OP. Red Dawn was definitely the best movie from the 80s. It was thought provoking for 13 year old me in all of the best ways. Doesn’t mean that I don’t similarly love Say Anything, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, Stand By Me, Lost Boys, and Heathers. But Red Dawn lit a fire in me that directed the way I faced life.

I don’t remember Red Dawn, but the description reminded me of the mini-series Amerika. Does anyone else remember that?

My picks for ‘80s movies:
+1 Wargames

Good Morning Vietnam
White Nights
Back to the Future
The Secret of My Success
Beetlejuice
Mr. Mom
Big
Steel Magnolias
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Mannequin
Real Genius

I could just keep going - there were so many great ones, and we went to Blockbuster even more frequently than the mall.

Does anyone else remember these? They weren’t big hits, but I remember loving them way back when.
Sweet Liberty
High Road to China
American Dreamer
