Red Dawn was the best ‘80s movie

full metal jacket, Back to the future, die hard, Bueller, The running Man, blade runner, the untouchables, Aliens, airplane, Indiana Jones, risky business, scarface, caddyshack, blues brothers, fast times at ridgemont high, the right stuff, the shining, Predator, terminator...

red dawn would not' even make my top 20... heck if I had to choose one decade to only watch movies fro the rest of my life. it would be the 80's

too many great movies to choose from..

You forgot to mention Top Gun!

The final fight scene in Predator beats ANY scene of any 80s movie…hands down….imho. I still watch it several times a year. Schwarzenegger versus the Alien….it just doesn’t get any better.

It’s Red Dawn and IT AINT CLOSE! (16 Candles (although it’s not aged well), Fast Times and Platoon come in next.)

I have a shirt that has “the chair is against the wall” on the front pocket and “Robert” holding his rifle up on the back. One time when I was wearing it a random guy came up to me and seriously said “it could happen again.” Whoa.

If I had sons they would be named Jed and Mattie!

I happened to be there one day during filming as a child but never saw it. Now I should watch it!

Heathers was my favorite 80s movie. Then Pretty in Pink, then Breakfast Club.

Best movie of the decade for so many reasons: Cast, geopolitics, anthem, jingoism.

Fight me.

You misspelled "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

My high school was heathers. Have had a very successful career and when one of my kids asked me how I showed her Heathers and Platoon. We watched Platoon first and went up to the scene where the one guy notes something along the lines of if we get out of here everything else is gravy. We then watched Heathers and I was said that I knew if I could survive high school, everything the rest of my life would be gravy.

The girl characters barely have names. I watched Red Dawn recently and they’re handed guns and somehow hit people without even aiming in their direction. It’s embarrassingly bad.

FWIW I read somewhere that John Lennon was originally cast to play the role of Professor Falken. He would have been fantastic.
