They are pretty comparable. Penn State Smeal probably has more name recognition but Pitt has smaller class sizes and affords the opportunity for school year internships in Pittsburgh.

Pitt is having a moment. People love it. Definitely hearing a lot of higher scoring kids apply to Pitt and not hearing as much buzz around Penn State.

What is the sports culture at Pitt? Do kids attend many of the football and basketball games? Any other sports popular for students?

Student football section = Panther Pitt
Student basketball section = Oakland Zoo
Mascot = Roc

I believe they all have IG accounts.

Women’s volleyball made Final Four last year - lots of excitement around that.

They have a great volleyball team…one of the freshman recruits is from the DMV.

University reputations follow the trends in student quality IMO….Same is already showing in US News Rankings that now have Pitt at #62 and Penn State at #77.

This is more DCUM disinformation. The current USNWR rankings (which were also current when the original comment was made) have Penn State University Park at #60 and Pitt at #66.

You really have to verify every bogus assertion made on this site.

You do realize the post you are quoting was from 2023..before USNWR changed their methodology Pitt ranked 62 and PSU ranked 77. The rankings you posted are from this year, both you and the other poster are correct…the poster stated the ranking in 2023, before methodology change, and stated the ranking in 2024, after methodology change.
