+1 I would honestly find it depressing. |
+1 I remember this. This is exactly why I would not pay the money to see her. The tickets are not cheap to begin with, then you totally disrespect your fans' time. |
Was this the tour where her “opener” was a DJ? If so I was there too and one of the many pissed off audience members.. If she was going to come on that late the least she could have had was a real opening act. |
There are a bunch of older female country singers who look totally chill. My DH's grandma, who lived about 30 minutes from Nashville (she's gone now), went to see some old female country singer like over a decade ago when our granny was still alive and the country singer too - I will have to ask DH the name of that singer when he gets home. But basically, the way my DH described it, it was a bunch of old white people sitting on picnic chairs and listening to an old lady sing, and they were all very happy and apparently this was a singer who was a recognizable name. There's also Dolly Parton, who is a legend and hasn't gone bonkers. Instead, she's a role model. There's Helen Mirren - not a singer, but a super attractive older woman who knows how to conduct herself with dignity. Hell, throw Cate Blanchett in there too. Lots of beautiful, famous women manage to grow old without losing their minds. |
maybe the singer was Loretta Lynn? |
Dolly. |
Off the top of my head: Barbara Streisand, Sade, Cher, Celine Dion, Tina Turner (retired but still) could each announce a tour tomorrow and their tickets would sell out. |

I read a story of how she got her start by visiting a music executive who was in the hospital for heart surgery or a heart attack. That made me see her a different way. She was desperate for money and he could make a decision to help launch her. I guess she could not wait until he was out of the hospital.
Her voice doesn’t have a lot of range. |
