When I’m with my Italian family, we do seven fishes. We usually do a seafood lasagna. Shrimp scampi. Crab dip.

That usually gets us to seven.

This year I’m with my Cuban family.

We are doing pork roast, rice, beans, salad, onions, and peppers. Served with a garlic, lime sour cream.

This sounds like a Christmas dinner, not a Christmas eve.

Classic cheese fondue, with bread, sausages, broccoli, apples, etc. for dipping. And a bottle of wine or two.

We are having homemade baked beans. If you've never had them, they are amazing -- not even the same food as the stuff that comes out of the cans. With steamed broccoli with cheese sauce.

I think half of these menus are made up. People post what some aspirational version of themselves would be making.

We have our big formal meal on Christmas Eve. We prefer a more relaxing Christmas Day

We are a mix of cultures here...we had fondue for lunch and planning on homemade pierogis and Chinese food for dinner with lots of cookies and hot cocoa for dessert. Not cohesive, maybe a little weird but everyone is happy!

I’m going to have cheesy beans and chips for dinner tonight, followed by some dark chocolate covered cherries, cranberries and almonds for dessert.

You're quite ignorant. In many Catholic cultures, Christmas Eve dinner is more important than any Christmas Day meal. This is how it is in France, for example. It's called le réveillon de Noël. My relatives in France are partying it up as we speak.

2 families splitting the cooking:

Charcuterie board, spanakopita for apps

Prime rib (several sauces), corn pudding, chopped salad, scalloped potatoes for dinner

Red velvet cheesecake and Christmas sugar cookies for dessert

Then duck feast with all the sides and Yule log for Christmas Day

Lol, ok. Why are you so triggered?

I know that Christmas Eve dinner is "important" for many. But even so, most of these menus are far beyond the kind of energy that most people have. In the DMV, at least, with so many dual-income families where both parents have high-profile careers. Oh, and we are not in France -- but perhaps you are "quite ignorant" of that?

We always have chili on Christmas Eve. When I was a kid we always had my Grandmothers soup, rolls, and shrimp cocktail. Highlight of the year.
