I would not be surprised if such emails arrived _after_ the incident made national news (even CNN covered it). That will bring the crazies out from all over the country and it's not difficult to find a list of teacher email addresses on Whitman's website and send them hateful messages.

Happy this is on cnn.com top headlines now

Were Pyle parents notified too by the principal? There was quite a bit of antisemitic trash talking when my kids went there. I hope teachers and parents of Pyle students also use this incident to discuss how this is unacceptable behavior (and has consequences).

Do we know who it is?

This area has gone down the toilet. This indecent and many more like it, the lack of support of our students, the fires set at churches, the crime in broad day light. There is no leadership in this county. They are just coasting along with out any firm plan to end the senseless crime.

the police department can't hire people, the schools can't hire people, residents don't feel safe anymore. Who do they think is going to get things under control?

Do the police have suspects? Are they in fact students?

The student newspaper said they're upping the police presence there this week so I doubt they know who did it.

That a huge lie. What it really means is that officers have been told to drive by the school every once in awhile. There are no extra officers to “up police presence” sometimes there aren’t enough officers to put a shift on the road.

No, it's the truth.

"BREAKING: On a schoolwide Zoom meeting this morning, administrators told students and staff to expect an enhanced police presence and additional MCPS security officers at Whitman this week as the antisemitic graffiti investigation continues."

I hope they catch them soon.

Did they ever catch who sprayed the antisemitic slur is from a couple of weeks ago?

They don't give a shit. This has happened before at Whitman.

UGH it's only going to get worse. Republicans are going to continue this utter crap for a long time. Clearly they stand with Space Lazer MTG and Nick Fuentes so their subjects are spewing and getting more emboldened by the day. Given so called "regular" Republicans don't give a shit it will get worse.

And my orthodox family and so called friends they will come for you too.

Thanks for that. I was shocked that the very same people who's parents fled/fought fascism have largely been the ones who voted for it here.

This stuff has always happened at these richer schools for many many years. This is nothing new. Clearly you didn't grow up here. Maybe we should start with parenting as a fix.

I suspect it is either a couple disturbed people or someone coming in from outside the community trying to stir up trouble. I wish they’d catch the person or people as I feel like this is probably a warning sign of someone who is disturbed and will go on to more dangerous behavior like a shooting incident or hate crime.

I wish people would stop downplaying the amount of antisemitism that has reared its ugly head here in Montgomery County. Having grown up here, I can tell you that I don't remember these types of incidents with any regularity. In fact, growing up Jewish in Montgomery County was pretty comfortable since we have a large Jewish population. What's going on today is becoming alarming. Just a few weeks ago I believe someone painted gallows and swastika's on the Bethesda Trolley trail. They have found swastika's at Montgomery Mall in the past week. My sister even received a very odd mailing at her Bethesda home with twisted facts about Jews recently. No doubt whoever is doing these things is disturbed but it seems to also be representative of something in our culture that people want to normalize these incidents. They aren't normal, they are very scary and we could be going down a very slippery and dangerous slope.

Not sure where you grew up in MoCo but I grew up here and remember it happening pretty regularly at several of the high schools. The only difference now is it is quickly shared via social media. Our school never includes anti-semitism in their cultural awareness or much else about Judaism.
