Can you get into W&M in-state without ED2

Anonymous
My DD is applying RD, 34 ACT superscore (33 single sitting), 4.2w/ 3.95uw GPA, 5 AP’s complete and 2 more this year (in APS so only AP’s are weighted), and we have visited but couldn’t get an interview. Fingers crossed! We are doing other schools ED and ED2, but really liked W&M.

Just to be clear, you really like W&M, but you like other schools more.

Yes.

My older DS applied RD to W&M - it was 5 years ago and I think admissions have actually gotten a little easier at W&M. He graduated from an FCPS high school, had a 4.1W GPA, 1300 SAT, good extracurriculars, Eagle Scout, did an interview and toured the school. He was accepted. He wasn't super crazy about W&M but to my surprise, decided to attend. He absolutely loved it, graduated and landed a fantastic job.

My youngest isn't sure where he wants to go to school so he didn't apply ED anywhere. W&M is the only school he's applying RD - all the others he applied EA. He has a higher GPA than his brother (currently a 4.1W so will probably graduate with close to a 4.3) but he is applying test optional and is not an Eagle Scout. He did an interview and toured the school. Add his "legacy" status, I think he has a good shot of an acceptance.

PP here, yes she is applying to some SLACs for ED and ED2, and if those don’t pan out W&M is on her list. Just wasn’t her top choice. And that’s okay. She’d be happy to attend there.

My DS was lukewarm about attending. Made decision at the 11th hour. Literally. Two weeks into the semester he fell in love with it. So happy there.
