Source? Not seeing anything from DCPS/online... |
Agreed! |
If DCPS does not pick an experienced high school administrator with experience in a school with a high-achieving cohort, that will be a HUGE factor in me opting against the new HS. I don’t care about the race. |
Looks like private for you. There are not that many HS to choose from. How about giving whomever the person is a chance ![]() |
Why should I give it a chance when DCPS isn’t taking the school seriously? You cannot appoint an elementary school administrator to stand up a brand-new, high achieving high school. That’s just absurd b |
I'm inclined to give people a chance. Which I will continue to do. Everyone deserves a fair shot. If the person is in fact coming from Stanton ES, only 4% of students are on grade level for Math and Reading. |
But also consider that it’s what’s accessible for many people who don’t have money for whatever Ivy you would deem acceptable. I don’t think many principals have PhDs so that alone places him in a different category. |
Is there a source other than a single post in this threat that the new principal is the guy at Stanton? |
Well that seals it for us - we will NOT be going along with this experiment! Opting for JR. No current Hardy parent in their right mind is going to go along with this. They need someone with High School leadership experience |
Walden University is being sued by many former students who allege that it's set up as an operation whose sole aim is to extract students' money. They allege that, among other tactics, the school continuously changed degree requirements to prevent students from actually completing degrees. Of course, this principal has nothing to do with that, but I'm not sure that choosing to go there rather than e.g. a funded program at a state school like the University of Delaware. |
*not sure that choosing to go there rather than e.g. a funded program at a state school like the University of Delaware shows great judgement. |
FWIW, all the people I know that work at Stanton are happy, which is a rarity in any DCPS let alone a particularly challenging school. He has had really strong staff retention which is no easy task. I'd give him a chance rather than worrying where he got his PHd, which is in no way a pre - req to becoming a principal |
With no high school experience! |
How long are we going to keep touting test scores as if they other anything other than a byproduct of the circumstances of the children taking the test? At least cite improvements/growth metrics as oppose to a metric that just tells you where students are when they showed up. I don't know anything about this individual AND I trust an internal to DCPS candidate to have a better shot than someone who would have to learn DCPS and build up a new school at the same time. That being said—as far as I can tell nobody has shared a source and so this all feels premature. If you made your decision about this high school based on a rumor in an online forum I imagine you were never seriously considering it. |
I guess they listened to the "Mc" part of my request? |
