While I think 2 half days during thanksgiving week is pretty useless, it does make it easy to just pull kids out if you want to travel earlier in the week. DD said less than half of her class was there on Tuesday. Probably better to keep the status quo and accept that it will be a wasted week than go two extra days in June.
