Agree or Disagree?: Inflatable yard Christmas decor is tacky

I’m pretty surprised, and delighted, that this is one of the few areas with a broad consensus on Dcum.

We have a bunch in our yard at DH’s insistence (and the kids’ support. A couple of years ago I mentioned to our neighbors that I was thinking of changing to something else, and she begged me not to because her grandchildren love coming to her house to see our inflatables. Since she lives right across the street and therefore bears the greatest burden of the tackiness, I gave her opinion a lot of weight and embraced the inflatables. Especially after a few other families in the neighborhood also mentioned how much their kids love seeing them.

It’s for the kids mcscrouge.

Really? I've had one that is now going on 19 years. I have a feeling that the ill effects environmentally when averaged across the years, is a lot better than getting many other possible decorations that get trashed every few years.

And whether tacky or not, they are festive and bring a lot of enjoyment to ourselves and our neighbors (we have several neighbors that have inflatables). So, you and Scrooge Mc-OP can enjoy your humbug together.

Disagree. It's fun and awesome.

Yes, it’s tacky and kind of lazy, but hey, it’s their lawn and if they like it, vaya con Dios.

My 13yo doesn’t like them. She thinks their kind of feeble. I also don’t like them. But I prefer them to no decorations!

There is a street near us that competes for the most and while I’m glad it’s not my street, it is absolute magic for kids.

I freaking dont care and do it for the kids. We have a neighborhood people drive through for lights etc and it’s a joy to join in

The worst thing about them is that most people leave them off all day, so there are puddled corpses of snowmen, Santa and reindeer littering their lawns.

If I still had kids at home, I would probably get some! Kids love them. But during the day I hate seeing dead Santas and melted snowmen all over the neighborhood. 😂

I am up to about 50 in the front and back. I just added a Buccee’s Beaver and Little Debbie Christmas tree.

A neighbor is using their $300 12 Foot tall Skeleton in their Cmas decorations. I think it is great!

Sure, but the kids love it so it's all good.
