I though most colleges don't require SAT scores anymore?

I think every college went test optional around Covid time, for the high school classes of 21 and 22. Some are remaining test optional, and some are bringing it back. My son (current high school junior) took a tour of Purdue a few weeks ago and they said they are requiring the SAT or ACT for incoming freshman of fall 2024.

My son attended the school's College Fair and most colleges said SATs are optional for Class 23 and 24 as well.

DS raised SAT score 340 points from beginning of 10th PSAT to end of 11th SAT with test prep.

College Board website says “based on your location” we won’t get PSAT 10 results until December 6.

my kid got an email with the score today.

came from the school, results aren't on college board.

What schools provide scores now? Any public ones?

OP here, our FCPS sent out email to all students this AM

Did not receive an email from our FCPS.

My kid in FCPS did not get an email with scores. I think it must just be a specific FCPS school that sent them out to their students.

College Board has not released any PSAT scores to the College Board website. College Board only released PSAT scores to the schools. (Some schools have then given the scores to the students.)

My DD improved by about 100 points between the PSAT and SAT, with little prep.

When does college board announce the cutoffs for national merit? I see they only announce the actual finalists in early fall of senior year, but I think they release the cutoffs long before that... but I don't know when...

My kid did about the same on PSAT (percentile wise/scales are not the same) and SAT but he's a good test taker and did very well on the PSAT. Think he took it twice at school...9th and 11th grade.

10th grade PSAT - 1350
11th grade PSAT - 1350
12th grade ACT - 35

Good time tO remind people that the SAT and ACT draw on different strengths. I had one kid who was one and done with a 1530 summer before junior year. The other couldn’t get much above a 1400, but easilY hit a 34 (which is equivalent to the 1530) on the ACT.

Message: don’t read too much into the first PSAT score. NMSF is really hard to pull off in the DMV and NM Commended is a lot of kids. And don’t assume the SAT will be best test for your kid. The College Board wants you to think that and pay for it 3-4 times. But, your kid could be significantly stronger on the ACT.

Agh -- this is so aggravating. My junior is taking the SAT this upcoming week and would love to see her PSAT first, to see what she should focus the remainder of her prep time on. Really unfair of the schools to just sit on them.
