And MCPS is full of people living at an ‘alternate’ address than where they actually live. Schools don’t have the time/staff/money to investigate residency fraud, so it goes unchecked.

Once you are in a cluster, you will never again be required to provide proof of residence. It’s a total non-issue.

Not true. I’ve been in the same cluster since 1998. I’ve been asked for proof of residence at least twice for each child and thrice for my eldest.

What cluster? I have never needed to provide proof after the initial registration back in kindergarten. I have a 3 kids, HS, MS and ES.

DCC. Blair is our home school. One child is at Northwood via MCPS’s own processes.

I do not think the school will figure it out but your neighbors will know and the parents at the bus stop and play date parents will all know...not sure if that would bother you or not. I would not feel good about it. Trying to think of what I would say to my kids about it.

I wonder why the differences. I think your cluster doesn't mind rocking the boat but many do. If they all checked there would be many kids who would be re-assigned.

Congratulations, you're contemplating the commission of a crime!

Which cluster is that? Our cluster does not check after initial enrollment.

Blair is our home school. I’ve had kids at TPES, PBES, TPMS, Blair, and Northwood.

Strange. Blair is also our home school and I’ve had kids in PBES, TPES and TPMS and only provided evidence of address when my kids were first registered for school.

There is no difference. PP is wrong.

I bet it has to do with the DCC application— attending DCC school that is not home school.

How would they know you moved out of boundary rather than in boundaries?

School will send report card etc. to the address on file. You won’t receive those if you don’t update.

You can easily opt out of getting mailed report cards and just download the PDFs from Parent Vue.

We got other things mailed that you can’t opt out of. The teachers assignment in ES. IEP docs.

They’ll find out when a family with kids moves into your old place and uses that address to register their kid at school…and then there might be trouble…
