if you wear your hair naturally curly

I rewet with gel mixed with water. Not too much, just a little. But I rewet more at night in the shower-not soaking wet, but wet to the point where it takes maybe an hour to air dry (less if the heat/ac is blowing).

I wear mine curly but I shower daily. I work out pretty hard most days and not at least washing is not an option for me. If i haven’t been sweating, I still wet and conditioner scrub in the shower. It is totally fine to wash hair daily if you are using a gentle sulfate free shampoo

As others have said, it depends. My hair is thin, so a good rinse usually does the trick if it's just sweat.

Chlorine is another story, I need to wash after each swim.

Swim team fried my curly kid's hair. Ultra swim didn't seem to help the curls at all. What do you wash with after swimming?

Reddit has a great and active curly hair community that is, believe it or not, really kind and helpful.

Regular shampoo, but I don't spend as much time in the water as hard core swimmers do. I used to swim a lot more, though, and it didn't do too much to my hair - but different people have different types of hair, which matters.

Have you tried putting conditioner in your kid's hair before putting on the swim cap? That can help reduce absorption of the chemicals in the pool.

They don't. Only the frizzy nightmare lasts.

Is she capping it? My swim team kid has healthy hair but it is always capped. You can put conditioner under the cap to help.

Only caps for meets. Despite my urging she doesn't want to be the only kid in a cap at practice (so she says).

I have seen that recommendation before, though and don't understand, if water gets through the cap, how would extra conditioner not contaminate the pool?

Two days, and it looks better on the second day. But if I let it go to day 3, it looks terrible, and my scalp starts to feel itchy. I time my washes to my work-out days.

I'm the 17:50 PP - the lack of cap during practice is the issue. I can't imagine the fast girls are all going without a cap during practice; if so, their coaches should have a word with them.

The amount of conditioner that leaks into pool water from under a cap is tiny, especially compared to the amount of chemicals already in there. It's a non-issue and definitely not a reason to avoid doing it. But really, if she's not going to wear a cap at practice, no amount of conditioner or ultra swim is going to rescue her hair.

Mine only really last a couple of days at most, and I sleep on a silk pillow case. I’d really like to start sleeping in a bonnet or a turban, but I don’t feel like having to deal with the reaction I’d get from DH about it.

Haha. This is me, too.

But seriously, I do not understand the logistics of many of these answers. I am a previous 3A poster. I shower every day and wash, condition, and "do" my hair. I really do not see how this is more work than some of the extremes mentioned here (rewetting, re-gelling, etc.). Unless you aren't showering daily, either, which makes sense, I guess. But as long as I am showering and all the steam is going to turn my hair into a frizz disaster, I don't see why I would go to the trouble outlined above. Am I just totally missing something?

No, I think it is just that everyone has different scalp & hair needs and overall we all have different preferences. I go back and forth on how frequently I wash my hair depending on scalp and hair health and how I feel in general. Sometimes I just don't feel clean if I don't wash my hair as often as I wash my body.

Key to keeping curst intact and bouncy for several days is not brushing or combing your hair.
