I'm sorry but this should not be in the Special Concerns thread. There are tons of single parents who do this stuff every. single. f***ing day of our lives. My husband has been dead since my youngest was in diapers. I'd give anything if he were "just away on business."
Woman up, OP. |
| OP, I think a lot of posters here are being really harsh. Taking care of kids by yourself is really hard. My husband recently started a new job with a lot of travel and it's been rough on me. We have a two year old who runs and hides and has tantrums, and also a 9 year old with anxiety and a lot of emotional needs. The kids fight with each other and the older one is insanely jealous of any attention I give to the younger one. All days are hard and some feel unbearable when my husband is gone. I agreed to 25% travel but it's been more like 2/3 travel. I would never have agreed to this! I don't have any advice but I do empathize! |
Laziness and incompetence should not be supported. |

I think you probably miss your husband too…the adult conversation, solidarity, being able to talk things through together.
Go to bed early (when they go to bed), and maybe get up early so you can have some coffee/purer time every day. That always makes me feel better. some people on here are crazy. 10 & 12 yr olds can be a lot! I have 1 who is a lot- wants you to play games with them every night, talk about deep stuff, etc…I don’t know if these posters have little robots who just come home, do chores/hw & then go to their rooms - but mine had plenty of nights where they needed to talk about crazy stuff (puberty, friends, etc). |
Come on! He isn't gone for a year! |
Right? He's away on business and he's bringing home a big paycheck. He hasn't abandoned the family, died, isn't deployed or in prison. There are not toddler triplets in the mix; the offspring are in late ES/early MS. This is not a gut-wrenching tragedy. |
It is to Susie Snowflake ❄️. Afterall, she is the one who gave birth to two other snowflakes and that just wore her out for life. |
