I know some people do that - but they're crappy lying people. The 'D' is sort of the WHOLE point of a PhD. Otherwise it's just more classes. |
Why would anyone bother with an unaccredited doctorate when there are so many that are programs accredited enough for pay scale purposes with degree that are laughably easy to obtain? |
Bravo. |
The only time this was acceptable in my program was if the student had successfully defended and was making the changes they needed to make in order to complete their dissertation. Outside of that, you could use Professor if you were Teaching and hired as a visiting Professor, but not Dr. |
Because accredited programs are more expensive and challenging then an unaccredited programs. And most people don't look at programs to see if they are accredited or not. |
| You sound crazy. You should just ask her "Oh Dr. X., that's so impressive, what is your degree in?" |
YES! Im absolutely “stalking” her — as in looking into her background to understand her education and experience by which she was teaching my kids. For example- from her LinkedIn profile I realized she has way fewer years of experience teaching than I would’ve thought. And 1 year of her six or so was cut short with Covid and the next was completely virtual. So instead of having expectations of classroom management that I might have with a more experienced teacher, I knew I should perhaps cut some slack. She’s all about being at the fun teacher. Being one of the girls. Or, like how on her public Facebook profile, she lists her FCPS job description as “Protector of little people in purgatory.” That certainly can provide insight in terms of how she views herself, her students, and her employer. |
I do too. They teach Law In Action. But, a JD is 3 years of hard work past a BA. Much of it would transfer to a civic, governmentI! Etc job. At the least, it’s extra ground in English and writing. |
I have not looked up any of my kids Teachers. I am aware that they are vetted when they are hired and trust that the County is hiring people with the correct degrees. I would probably ask a Teacher who has a Doctorate about their experience and dissertation because I enjoy learning about what people have done in graduate school and I love complaining about the awfulness that were comprehensive exams in graduate school. |
IDK. But, people apply to the online schools that will make financing ESY and work with scheduLe and present a track that seems doable. And end up with a worth degree (ahhmm Trump U). Some are so bad theY just had student loans forgiven for their “education”. |
| I've read a lot of insane stuff on the internet. But this really takes the cake. You will be legendary in the teacher workrooms of the county. And not in a good way. |
BuT she is not a teacher in your kids current school? Seek help. You sound like an insane stalker |
What? “Fraudulent” means “unjustifiably claiming or being credited with particular accomplishments or qualities.“. Claiming to have a Ph.D. when you do not have a Ph.D. is fraudulent. |
Money, convenience, appreciation of the curriculum or a particular professor, the expectation that the program will be accredited by the time they graduate, it was accredited when they started — so they decided to finish their degree, sheer love of education….…the list goes on. |
By asking to be called Dr. And not Ms. by HS kids. (And not your HS kids and your school)? Because, to be clear, CA shows she is qualified to teach at the school. I wish I had you lack of actual problems. |
