Terrible experience at Foxhall pediatrics

This is a ridiculous post when literally every doctor's appointment I've ever had runs 10 to 30 minutes late. The doctors can be excused for being late for appointments you can be excused once for being late. I've left 30 minutes before I need to sometimes and because of an accident closing down a road or rain or whatever it's not enough time.

I waited 1.5 hours with a sick child once, no-one waved our co-pay in lieu of a late fee.

Is this a serious post? It's unusual to be seen in only 10 minutes at most places. I would laugh out loud if they tried to charge me for being 10 minutes late. I know most doctors think they're really special, but their time is NOT more valuable than mine.

Yep! The day a doctor's office tries to charge a fee for being 10 minutes late is the day I start charging them in return.

Sounds like you work at Foxhall Pediatrcs.

Drop Foxhall. They are not the only pediatricians in town. Went there once and never went back. Heard the staff was amazing until a few key people left. Take your child and your money elsewhere.

I'd lose my shift if I showed up to a sick appointment and was told it had been cancelled. There would be zero returns after that.

From your answer, I assume you don’t have young children.

Single parent with young kids AND a pediatrician actually. Expecting to be seen when you are late is selfish and entitled. Expecting sympathy that you didn't get special treatment for your sick kid (we all drive in rush hour traffic, we all have sick kids...if they are "very sick" don't take them to the peds office) is entitled and selfish. I deal with parents like this every day. OP is the nuisance here, people are rude to her because she is likely rude at the onset.

You obviously work at the office and instead of getting defensive, you should relay our concerns to the Doctors. I am not alone, and you are no-ones' pediatrician the way you are acting on this forum with us right now.

Oh you're one of those that think the doctor's are on charge and likely rude to staff...the doctos have very little say in the managing of the office. If you think you'll get your way or someone fired because you complain to the doctor you're mistaken.

And what would that do?

The doctor cancelled. The receptionist doesn't see patients. If the doctor cancelled last minute for an emergency maybe their own kid was sick there's not much to be done and you throwing a tantrum isn't going to help you are your kid.

Answer your phone calls and texts people. Listen to the messages don't ignore them.

You're the one seeking them out, not the other way around.

Actually it is more valuable than yours in this setting.

What you and pps talking about how they always wait don't get is the reason for the wait is people like you. Most visits are scheduled for 15 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to get a patient checked in and worked up do they can see the doctor. That doesn't even include vaccines, labs, etc . Your 10 minutes late becomes a 20 minute backup at a minimum.

This place tried to charge me an imaginary late fee…. Truly the worst medical provider experience I have ever had.

It may make sense for the most educated people in the office to have some say so on how it is being run.

That’s crazy. A late fee? I’ve never even heard of a late fee being assessed by a doctor’s office. Do they offer an early discount?

Fair enough that a tantrum on the spot would not be productive. But OP made it clear there was no message/text/call beforehand about the cancellation. Practices usually have backup plans when a physician is unexpectedly absent. My family's pediatrician will bring in an NP or PA who can easily handle the mundane viruses and ear infections.
