From your answer, I assume you don’t have young children.

Single parent with young kids AND a pediatrician actually. Expecting to be seen when you are late is selfish and entitled. Expecting sympathy that you didn't get special treatment for your sick kid (we all drive in rush hour traffic, we all have sick kids...if they are "very sick" don't take them to the peds office) is entitled and selfish. I deal with parents like this every day. OP is the nuisance here, people are rude to her because she is likely rude at the onset.

OP here. Your comments have been rude, judgmental and entitled. I am sorry that parents would have to deal with you based on the personality you have shown on this forum. I am also in a demanding field with clients who may need me when they are in times of distress. I would not imagine charging them an additional fee or scolding them because they are having a bad day because of circumstances out of their control. Good luck to you.

+1,000. You’ll have a problem at the next office you patronize too, because the problem is you.

This is a ridiculous post when literally every doctor's appointment I've ever had runs 10 to 30 minutes late. The doctors can be excused for being late for appointments you can be excused once for being late. I've left 30 minutes before I need to sometimes and because of an accident closing down a road or rain or whatever it's not enough time.

I waited 1.5 hours with a sick child once, no-one waved our co-pay in lieu of a late fee.

Yep! The day a doctor's office tries to charge a fee for being 10 minutes late is the day I start charging them in return.

They’re not paying you. You have no power. Bye.

Is this a serious post? It's unusual to be seen in only 10 minutes at most places. I would laugh out loud if they tried to charge me for being 10 minutes late. I know most doctors think they're really special, but their time is NOT more valuable than mine.

You're the one seeking them out, not the other way around.

Go back to Foxhall and leave us alone!!!

The (multiple) people disagreeing with you don’t work there. You sound very immature. Grow up.

I’m pretty sure you’re the lone commenter disagreeing with people’s actual experiences. I’m not the OP and I see multiple people with similar experiences at this office. I don’t know what your interest is here, but it’s clearly not to share your experiences or to suggest a better practice for people’s children to attend.

Wow are you the PP that claimed to be a pediatrician? Unbelievable. You do realize that the poster does have power because they can choose to spend their money elsewhere. There are many pediatric practices in the District and neighboring counties and thankfully many people in the profession don’t behave like you! What are you thinking?

i am never actually late to appointments, but if i WAS 10 minutes late one time i wouldn't feel bad about it at all. first, i have never been called back within 10 minutes of my appointment time, and second, i have never had the doctor show up immediately after i go to the back. so, they WASTE more than 10 minutes of my time EVERY TIME i go to the doctor. if they was to me pissy when i am late one time they can jump up my hiney!

Nope, I'm not PP. Y'all are unhinged.

I tend to agree. They ask you to be 15 mins early and then they don’t see you promptly. People who are early end up waiting 30 mins to be taken back and then wait longer for the doctor. Being 10 mins late occasionally is not something I am going to sweat. Do I try to be on time? Yes. Am I going to speed and rush because both kids decided to poop 3 seconds before leaving the house? Nah

It's "special treatment" not to have your appointment canceled upon arrival? I'm glad you're not my pediatrician

You obviously work at the office and instead of getting defensive, you should relay our concerns to the Doctors. I am not alone, and you are no-ones' pediatrician the way you are acting on this forum with us right now.

Feeling like you deserve fees because someone had trouble getting to an appointment sounds like entitlement to me. This forum is for parents and not for pediatricians and/or their staff to spy on parents. You are a guest here. Act accordingly.

STFU. Pediatricians are parents as well. Show up to your appointments on time and act accordingly to the reception staff and you won’t have the issues you’re running into here.

Well I know for a fact that won’t be the case. This isn’t the first practice that I’ve patronized. I have never experienced staff at a pediatrician’s office that behave like the individuals in the front office at Foxhall Pediatrics. Being rude to your customers/patients is inexcusable. And trying justify that behavior by implying that the staff or doctors’ time is more valuable than anyone else’s is shameful.
