E Hall Pass?

As a HS teacher, I don’t want them to ask me to go to the bathroom. It seems humiliating and inhumane for them to have to do that. Like one of the previous posters, I just use a sign-in, sign-out method. It’s true that some kids will abuse the policy, but oh well. I refuse to police a 16 year old’s bodily functions.

Except a lot of the time, they aren't going to the bathroom.

It will be lucky for students to meet a friendly teacher to permit them to use bathroom if they need to use it.

It is a student’s basic right to use bathroom when they need to. FCPS should not limit, control, and harm all of the good student’s rights just because there are some students that abuse this right. All too often, the good are punished because of the bad. Let’s not let that happen here. Just return it back to the way it was before.

Once a human being is potty trained, they can wait until an appropriate time. Waiting a few hours won't cause medical issues.

And the number of students abusing was not just "some".

A person must be have health issue if he/she hold their pee often and long time. That is why there are so many young people have kidney stones

Seriously, how hard is it to find kids vaping in the bathroom and suspend them. That’s what would have happened at my high school.

+1. The kids who are abusing the opportunity to go to the bathroom are the same kids who disrupt class time, do the bare minimum academically, and cause other problems at school. Schools don’t want to suspend anyone or enforce consequences, so now we have a small handful of students ruining it for everyone.

This thread is a discussion about a specific tracking app being used in fcps high schools. It is not about elementary school potty breaks.

Please keep the thread focused on the topic of high schools/secondary schools and this new app.

There are plenty of other threads discussing elementary school potty breaks, including one every long one about UTIs.

This thread is about a specific mandatory traking app for the older teens.

My daughter's middle school(only with 7-8 grade) also is using E Hall Pass. She and her many classmates all have the same experience that they submit the request on e hall pass system on their laptop during whole class, but they always can not get pass. That is why nearly all students hate E Hall Pass so much! As a parent, hearing this thing, I also dislike my daughter's middle school using it to control students basic right of using bathroom at school.

They can go during the passing period, or during break and/or lunch. They really don't need to go during class. It's not necessary - and after the vandalism, schools aren't very accommodating anymore. That's what is called a natural consequence.

If the teacher has to “approve” the epass on her computer, of course she isn’t going to receive a response in a timely manner! Teachers are lecturing or walking around helping individuals and small groups for most of the class.

Yes, and worse they drag kids with decent behavior down with them. The bad apples analogy is often applicable.

there isn't time to go during class change, or you'll be late and in trouble.

The lunch monitors only allow a certain amount of kids to go at once, and sometimes my kid isn't allowed.

E hall pass is BS monitor the halls, not how many times my kid uses the bathroom and for how long. Jesus. Some of them are 18 Years old, my older will soon. this is ridiculous
