When my daughter gets asked in front of the whole class why she was gone for 7 minutes, yes it matters. I love teachers, but I wish sometimes that you all would realize that not all teachers are excellent. Some ask inappropriate things of girls when they return from the bathroom, or ask why they've been 3 times today when they're on their period, etc. |
I know very well that all teachers aren't excellent. Some of those teachers also just let kids out whenever or believe everything kids tell them... like the kids who magically need to use the bathroom when they just saw their friends walk by the window. Unfortunately, a lot of kids lie. And it's made it impossobly difficult to know when it's a real situation like what you describe for the girl on her period, etc. Many also use that as a lie too, by the way. Having no system at all wasn't working. So this is an attempt. I don't think it's awesome, but schools are trying to do something at least to put some structure around it.

But, actually, that teacher probably would've asked your daughter where she had been regardless of ehall pass, right? That's a teacher issue, not the program |
It is very easy to cause the Uremia if students often hold their pee. |
Female students need to change their pads at least 2 hours during their periods , otherwise it is easy to cause Urethritis ! I often remind my daughter not to hold pee . Her body health is the most important than any other things! So I appreciate those nice and kind teachers who permit my daughter go to bathroom at her middle school. |
My daughter tell me she and her friends all hate the E Hall Pass. They all are in AAP program with good grades. |
I'm a FCPS HS teacher who actually likes e-hall pass. Even the students with good grades meet up with their friends in the bathroom for a quick break in the period, btw. Kids can make their pass on their phones (all HS students still have them) or on their FCPS laptops. All I have to do is click "approve". But our school knows who the "bad" kids are (remember the TikTok challenges destroying school property?) & knows who vapes together for 30 minutes. They know which kids skip all of 3rd period & hang out together in the bathrooms (eww). The program won't let those kids be out of class at the same time -- the pass gets denied. That's a good thing. I actually like it because it holds kids accountable. Yes, the vast majority of kids aren't the troublemakers. But if they ask to leave my class "to see their counselor" or "to run to the office" or whatever, then the counselor or the office have to click when they arrived. Loads of "good" kids waste a lot of time out of class. |
If many students get Uremia and have to change their kidneys for live after long and many times holding pee due to Fairfax public schools' E Hall Pass, maybe many parents will sue Fairfax public schools by law in the not long future. |
Kids abuse the bathroom in Upper ES too. It started to become a problem this year and we went over the many times kids have the opportunity to use the bathroom that is not during class time. I always think it is hilarious how most kids don’t need to pee at recess but they do once I am teaching math. I Wish I had the opportunity to pee as much as these kids do. |
The problem isn't ehall pass. It's that the teacher isn't responding to the pass in the program to approve it. If the teacher doesn't want them to go, they would also not allow them to go if ehall pass wasn't being used. This is a teacher/child issue, not an ehall pass problem |
Now my daughter does not drink water during school even if I take her only half bottle water because she tell me she do not want to go to bathroom. |
Tell me about it. -a teacher who teaches for three hours straight |
I teach from 7:10 (school starts at 7:30, but I am required to be in my classroom at 7:10) until 12:15. While we have passing periods, there is no way I can get to the bathroom during that time because the faculty restroom is too far away and because the next class of students is already arriving by the time the last ones from the previous class leave. I must wait five hours between bathroom visits, then just hope the faculty restroom is actually available when I finally get a break. It is not easy. |
AAP is irrelevant to the discussion. |
I think it is sometimes a teacher/student problem and sometimes an ehallpass problem. Most teachers are not going to stop teaching or stop working with a student to go over to their computer to approve the pass in the system. That is disruptive to the entire class. It was much easier to just nod at a student who requested to go to the bathroom when we were permitted to just use paper hall passes. That system did not require teachers to interrupt teaching to approve a pass. |
