I have not had the same experience. I still very much enjoy food, just a lot less of it. In fact I feel even more free to enjoy food because it doesn’t stress me out or make me feel shame anymore. |
Go to a restaurant with tasting menu! The slow small portions work very well. |
Habit change is extremely unlikely to work long-term. |
Op, I'm curious, is the weight loss due to eating less or are there other factors? What do you eat in a day now? I'm 5'2", 52 and find it very very hard to lose weight even on the usual 1200 calories. I also just tore a ligament so I'm currently unable to do the 3-5 miles/day and peloton I was doing previously. So frustrating.... |
Apparently not just appetite reduction. It increases insulin, decreases glucogon, decreases glucose output from liver, increases glucose uptake in pancreas... google "tirzepatide" and you can read the studies. I have also had many fewer migraines since starting Mounjaro and I know that for me, migraines are very linked to blood sugar fluctuations, so it sort of make sense. |
Yes. Mounjaro, Ozempic, Wegovy- a lot of doctors do not know about these, but for many people they are life-changing. |
Everybody and their cat are going to be on these in the next two years. At least those who can afford it; they're not going generic any time soon. I'm kind of dreading how it will change our culture but it will be interesting. Being thin is going to be perfectly accessible to all who have the money. |
SAME! I’ve been on Ozempic (prediabetic, overweight) for 6 months. I couldn’t be happier. I eat whatever I want…just not a lot of it. The stress that I would feel from when I did Weight Watchers is gone. I’m down to a healthy BMI and love wearing new clothes & feeling good. |
My doctor offered it to me 6 months ago, and I declined at 5'7" and 210lbs thinking I didn't need help. Well I am 10 pounds lighter now, which is great, but I'm losing steam. Your post OP is making me reconsider when I see him next week, since I still have far to go. (I am not diabetic, but have hypertension and heart disease). |
I didn't lose any weight on Saxenda. It also wasn't covered and cost me $500 a month. |
How long were you on it? |
Idk, it sounds like the side effects for many are pretty intense. |
My DR started me on this as I’m obese at 270lbs (52 BMI).
I’m finishing up my first month on Mounjaro (MJ) and I’m down 10 pounds. The first month was weekly shots of the 2.5mg starting dose and I’m moving to 5mg (weekly for a month) and then 7.5mg (weekly for a month). I’ve had no significant side effects and it’s amazing how my body feels. I don’t have raging hunger cues and I can eat and feel full after having a small/normal portion - that is totally new for me. Most days I average about 1400 calories and I aim for 100g of protein. |
This sounds like such a dream. I hope they study and approve it for slightly overweight people. Anyone know if they're working on it? I am in the "could stand to lose 10-15lbs" category so I don't think anyone will give it to me now |
Does it? Everyone who has taken it on this thread said side-effects were minor |
