Dunno. 1997 is pretty old as far as sports arenas go. |
Saw a couple of fabulous Grateful Dead shows there in 92/93 |
They should have just named it the Abe Pollin Center from the beginning. |
What is this place? |
I miss randomly seeing polo played near the Mall. Things change. |
It will be a little more like it was in the 90s. I remember when that area was “rehabilitated” around the arena when it was built. |
That place is the Capital Centre in Landover, long since gone. It was demolished in the early 2000s. I graduated from HS there in 1987, and my DH worked a ton of Caps games & concerts at the Cap Centre. Here's a fun look back: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_Centre_(Landover%2C_Maryland) |
The move was caused by the pandemic. I hope that eventually the horse show will be able to return. |

I saw a monster truck rally there. Very disappointed, I was expecting real monsters. It occurs to me what I was expecting wouldn't fit inside. |
Exactly. The central location is perfect and was really important to the incredible renaissance that happened downtown over the following 25 years. |
