It was a bit of a haul but the traffic pattern in and out was so far ahead of it's time.

Graduated high school there!! Not too mention numerous concerts, Caps games, circuses, tractor pulls, motorcross….

I even have a chunk of concrete from when they imploded it.

Yes! My late aunt took me a few times as a kid. Such great memories.

Do some of the signs in Chinatown still say MCI Center?

They still ahead it at CapOne arena pre-pandemic

This is a ridiculous notion. There has been zero talk of the arena being torn down. It is the centerpiece of a big area, it is filled constantly with big stars, and it is fairly well maintained.

Any chance they expand/renovate Verizon Center?

Pssst--it was the Cap Centre.

Classy and all.

Yeah. I think I saw this story right below the one that said Morgan Freeman died.

Why would this be better than the one that’s smack in the middle of downtown?

That would be funny if they still had signs in Chinese characters saying some attempted approximation of MCI Center. Most of the Chinese signs down there are apparently nonsense anyways.

It was built in 1997 and has had at least two renovations, including during COVID. It is as state of the art as any arena in the country.
