So, you might also want to consider thad or todd as nicknames.

The above is incorrect. (I am American but my parents are Polish immigrants and I go back to Poland often.) The Polish for Theodore is Teodor. The Polish for Thaddeus is Tadeusz. Thaddeus and Theodore are both different names in Polish as they are in English. Personally, I would think it odd to use Thad or Tad as a nickname for Theodore, since it is a nickname for Thaddeus, and they are two different names, but to each her own! (Also, as a tangent, have no idea what the above PP was getting at with "pronounced Todjo"--that makes no sense at all! The "j" in Polish is pronounced as a "y" sound in English.)

I'm the PP and this is how a family member's nn of Todd was described to me. Since we're third gen, it probably just got all mangled, but it's still a nice option, IMO. Interesting to know that the two names are in fact different -- our 2nd and 3rd generation family is full of misinformation and misconceptions.

Theodore is my son's middle name so obviously I like it. We almost used it as his first but since Simon was one of our runner up names, I didn't want to deal with the whole chipmunks issue. And we ended up using Simon for our second so a good call on our part.

Can you give him your husband's first name or a grandfather's first name as a middle name?

I love Theodore...It means gift from God!

My dad's name.

For a middle name. Do not like the middle names you have picked to go with it.

How about Theodore Samuel or Theodore Nicholas??

I have always LOVED the name Theo. I like Clayton better than Evan as a middle name.
