They wanted a big family anyway but I’m sure this helped make their decision to go for it easier. I initially wanted 3, but when I got my boy and my girl I realized we don’t actually need to go for the third.

I had a boy and a girl but wanted three kids and had a 3rd. I think the whole gender thing is really only important to parents who are fixated on having one specific gender. There are plenty of us who genuinely don’t care!

I’ve never understood people basing the number of kids they have on gender. I find it odd to be honest

This. So odd. I had two girls and wanted a third because we wanted three children. It was another girl and we knew very early on (and were thrilled! Three little girls. Amazing). You would not BELIEVE how many people joked about my husband wanting a boy (so sexist). It had nothing to do with gender! Ugh.

Ugh as a mom of three boys is planning on a fourth child I can relate to people making this (incorrect) assumption!

I’m pretty sure they are both from big families and are likely just trying to have a bigger family, themselves.

But he's been vocal about wanting a son. They are 3 brothers in that family, and both brothers are cops. They are a big bro family.

No he hasn’t. He’s actually said he loves having a house full of girls and wouldn’t mind more.

That's the PR machine. The brothers say something else.

I think the reason people get irritated with them is because they project a “perfect” life and relationship on social media, etc. They “have it all” - wealth, power, privilege, health, happiness, mutual love and respect - and really only show the positive, golden aspects of their lives (although he has acknowledged suffering from anxiety). She turns up on the red carpet in a sparkly dress, glowing, pregnant and beautiful and I’m sure it’s real but it’s also their brand. They do guard their private life which I respect.

Oh, and this is a quote that illustrates what I’m referring to (from People): “You never would think that Blake Lively, this superstar and beautiful woman, would be this regular person that cooks dinner every night and takes care if the family but she is really wonderful with the kids.”

It’s like - c’mon. I’m sure it true but it’s not something that mere mortals can aspire to.

Don't worry if you had three boys they would feel sorry for you (assuming you are a woman)

The article says she is hoping for a boy, not that she is having a boy.

This seems like a you problem. They seem sweet and genuinely in love, for hollywood ppl at least.

DP. I admit that I find them slightly irritating for no real reason. I agree that Ryan seems try hard. But I wish them all the best. They seem to enjoy and prioritize their family.

Ryan doesn't seem like a fun husband. Seems high maintenance.

Should have named him James. Are they going to name him Sue?

We wanted 4 and after 2 biys decided we are done. We didn't need a girl or anything more. Perfection.

Of course she's having one, otherwise they would not have leaked this statement to the press. You know the sex at 6 weeks

They don’t strike me as the type who are obsessed with having a boy. They seem like they are raising their girls pretty gender neutral. But if they want a boy, cool that modern technology can control that.

Congrats to them, they seem like a lovely couple. I heard her speak quite movingly on her work against sex trafficking a few years ago.

Agree they seem like try hards but actually in the nicest way. They are their own business so I guess I understand them promoting it. And their stuff usually is funny and likeable not cringey and self important like so many other stars.

And are they not holiday nepotism beneficiaries? They get extra stars for making it with no family connections.

Blake's parents are in the industry. Not super high level nepotism but as actors and Hollywood talent managers they definitely greased the wheels for her.
