BULLIS OR WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL?

Hmm. Yes, let's spew venom at the venom-spewers who haven't spewn venom on this thread.

OP here! Are the side bars finished? I have until Tuesday to decide, but the pros for WIS are My DH and I both work in NW DC, so having our DS at WIS for evening activities would not be an issue. We also could get him to social activities with friends in the city.

I also believe that the academics at WIS should be stronger. The Pros for Bullis are the bus service to the school from my area, several addtional sports that WIS does not offer and of course all of that space. I have told my DS that if we start out at WIS, he could always switch to Bullis for HSchool if he really wanted addtional sports.

They are very different schools. WIS is a much more international school attracting families who in HS want the IB program. Bullis has a more all around program with more emphasis on sports and the arts. I would try and see where you think he would be happiest for HS. WHile you can switch, it is nice to make a decision that they can stay all the way through.

OP here! That's how I feel. Placing him in a school where he can stay (he would be entering MS) all the way through. It's becoming a numbers game for us at this point. One School is offering alittle assistance, the other has not. I did not want my decision to be based on numbers, but it may come down to that. We feel that DS would do equally well at either school.

If academics and commute are on the same side, this wouldn't be a hard decision for me. Especially if your DC doesn't have a strong preference for the other school.

If you like both schools equally, then I would go with the one that is offering some financial assistance.

Very true, But if one of the very different schools that we both feel that DS would do well in gave you alittle financial assistance and the other has not , you go with the assistance. One of these schools most definitely has what I feel are stronger academics.

Giving up a little more variety in sports for a stronger background in academics to be around international kids/Diverse more like himself is the added plus in lieu of the additonal choices in sports would some agree?

OP here! The decision is made. Stress over. We are happy. We chose WIS. Will have the summer to discover transportation options.

Why can't we have a thread where the subject can end on a pleasant note, without someone always trying to steer the subject back to who is better, what tier the school is etc. etc. Give us all a break. If your DC is where you want them to be and the OP's DC is where she wants them to be then leave it alone.

I will end it on a pleasant note. Congrats on your decision. I hope that it works out great for your family and your child is happy.
