Private & Independent Schools
GDS, Sidwell, Sheridan, Cathedral schools if you've got enough time, Maret ditto, WIS ditto... |
| And it is a very nice walk, good exercise for older kids. |
| Bullis definitely |
| sorry but with the backpacks the kids have these days and all the other stuff the have. walkiing 2-3 miles to school is not realisitic. |
|
We commute from Bethesda to WIS. Not a bad commute. There are lots of kids from close-in MoCo, as well as VA.

It is, of course, your decision for your child. Mine goes backpacking in the summer - 15 miles a day with a 40 pound pack. For school, we bought a very good quality backpack wtih shoulder, belly, and chest strap, and we buy extra (used) copies of the heaviest textbooks. It's healthy, it improves the homework attitude and decreases the teenaged attitude, and it gets parents off the hook as chauffers. Win-win. |
| It's not good exercise with a 30 pounds of textbooks. |
French International School |
Depending on where you are, GDS or Sidwell. WIS isn't too much father, and STA/NCS would be about the same. |
| A high school athlete can easily walk from close-in CC, MD to Sidwell or GDS. Sometimes my DS does this rather than waiting for the bus. |
Chevy Chase is huge. Which part of Chevy Chase are you thinking of? |
When I was in high school I rode my bike from Bethesda to Sidwell Friends most days. It was about 2.5 miles. |
There are quite a few of us living around Beauvoir that walk our kids down on good-weather days. |
| From MD? |
| Im surprised that the trolls from DC who hate MD students havent attacked this board. Their precious kids are forced to go to Hearst or Janney. |
