That list of colleges is meh at best. It’s also probably misleading. There are a few good schools on there but who’s to say it’s not the same few people who were accepted to all of them. |
I am the PP. I was not posting to brag about the quality of the schools. I am not impressed with the list either. Just pointing out to the PP who claimed Liberty is a destination of AHC grads that the claim was ridiculous. |
Looks like a solid list of colleges for families who aren't looking to pay 80 grand out of pocket per year. |
i am confused. Why would a Catholic want to go to Liberty? |
A lot of us can’t afford big name colleges. It’s these ones you call the “meh” schools that give solid scholarships to us poors thus making them affordable. Bright kids are big fish in those small ponds and they give merit aid to reflect that. We’re just doing the best we can on our non-law partner salaries. |
So that PP has no idea that Liberty folks don't even think Catholics are Christians! 😂 |
It's all about the package and that's what this board misses. If you have a kid that had a full-ride for undergrad, they have won-period. College is so much a financial decision now. Be smart and play the long game. |
Liberty University would never accept a Catholic school grad. If you're going to be bigoted, at least be intelligent about it. |
| Wow- judge much. ..my niece attended Liberty and graduated from a catholic high school... riddle me that one. SMH |
I really can't explain that one. Either she wasn't Catholic but attended a Catholic high school (certainly possible) or she was Catholic in high school but chose to attend a college that was very much opposed to her religion in many ways for some reason. These are from the Liberty website: We affirm that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, though written by men, was supernaturally inspired by God so that all its words are the written true revelation of God; it is therefore inerrant in the originals and authoritative in all matters. It is to be understood by all through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, its meaning determined by the historical, grammatical, and literary use of the author’s language, comparing Scripture with Scripture. We affirm that each person can be saved only through the work of Jesus Christ, through repentance of sin and by faith alone in Him as Savior. The believer is declared righteous, born again by the Holy Spirit, turned from sin, and assured of heaven.[u] Neither of those statements are Catholic beliefs. I have no idea why she would have wanted to attend Liberty unless she was "born again" and is no longer a practicing Catholic. (My guess is Liberty accepted her - and any other non-evangelicals that they accept - as a missionary project.) |
| The first few PPs were bashing the OP, not the school. Then people got defensive about the school unnecessarily, so they started bashing the school |
Ha. You know what Liberty prizes above all else, even above their Christian beliefs? $$$$$$. My guess is Liberty accepted her because they get money to do so (whether from tuition or a scholarship). My sister (a Mormon who teaches at a Catholic School) is getting her Master's degree from there (online). |
| I think it's that the subject of this thread could be worded better. Something like, "Impressed with responsive admissions staff at AHC." "Over the moon" is hyperbole, while "attention" makes OP seem attention-seeking. In reality, OP is just saying that she has been impressed with the responsive admissions staff at the school. |
| Why is everyone so critical? My girls are at a different all girls Catholic school, but I'm always happy to hear a positive review from a peer school. Nice job AHC! |
